smiley-shocked003.gif Wow! Look what happened to the "experimental egg" Dan blasted the soft center out of.
Amazing looking, and the remaining surfaces polished out great. Good job Dan! Saved that egg by revealing it's inner beauty.
cloud9.gif Looks like you earned yourself some brownie points....hehe

I left the image big so you can click on the picture and zoom into it for details.

Dan sure did a great job of improving on the original result! Nice work!

I luvs dem aigs! Nature's little surprise packages.

Hail and rain make for some good "motivation" to get things done.

However, lightning gives rise to thunder and that's a good sign that it is time to take shelter, especially in South Park!

biggrin.gif Right, gotta stop when the lightning is rolling through. We aren't in south park now but still.........don't wanna push my luck with ma nature. smile.gif

Here's one I recently got cut (between lightning storms chores017.gif ) that turned out with a nice star pattern and crystal pocket in the doublet.....just a quick snap of the webcam so details aren't great yet, more detailed pics coming later. This is from a new batch of priday bed thundereggs in Oregon. a few have had some cracked up opal in them but most are very nice formations.......nice blue hues and shades of ornanges and reds with clear.
This particular one looks like the crystal pocket might be amethyst.......hard to tell true color prior to polishing but WOW smiley-shocked003.gif that will be cool!!

Tiny clear quartz crystals making up the druzy pocket. With the agate underneath being red, it gives the appearance that the crystals are also red. There are even a few spots that have a black layer underneath, making some of the crystals looks like smokey quartz.
happy088.gif

That egg is definately a keeper, especially with its dancing shadow bands!

I'm cracked? jawdrop.gif Ok maybe a little. But what's this mine, mine, mine stuff? rolleyes.gif Darn woman is outta' control! smiley-laughing021.gif Those last two red ones really are nice though, makes the hair on your neck stand up. Or maybe that's the pair of eyes looking at me that's causin' the hair thing. laught16.gif

We've been cutting up a few more of these hidden beauties chores017.gif and have another short video put together for everyone. Watch as we start with locking down the doublet Oregon Priday thunderegg to be cut and get the first glimpse peek at the treasure.
Just a tad over 5 minutes long but in real time was closer to 45 minutes on the saw.
ThunderEgg Cutting 3
Folks are always so suprised at how cool the insides are compared to the ugly ol' outter shells, but it's easy to see why when they are cut.

Grab a beverage while the video loads up and enjoy everyone!

We promised a better pic of the Priday Oregon thunderegg 5 point star above (post #66), so here it is.
A very cool and rare 5 pointed star doublet pair. signs021.gif Blues, oranges and white druzy pockets in the little side.

This Priday Oregon double was cut and recorded on video for "ThunderEgg Cutting 3" and is fresh off the lapidary saw.
Shown wet in this picture and will for sure polish out very nicely. wink.gif
Really blue! happy088.gif
