PPPSSSSSTTTTTT Hey Jack............

Was able to go out yesterday and chop a few When I noticed on the 3rd egg the temp was 6 degrees.
Even though the saw, coolant and rocks didn't seem to mind, the saw operator was thinkin'.......am I nuts?! I'm goin' inside.
Was well worth it though. Us crazy folks do this for a reason, maybe for things like this?

Fantastic Thunderegg Dan!!!



Ok egg man (and much much more), lets see what you can get from this odd shaped NM Baker egg.

Sure is good looking egg!! At those temps outside you cud whack off a finger and never feel it, be careful!

Thanks Jack I do try to be very careful when hand cutting. I did have a 500 watt halogen on to bust the chill in the shed whiched helped and fortunately I didn't have my mits in the fluid the whole time, these I'm cutting on the 8" saw with a vise and clock feed. Just have to stay out for part of the time it cuts.

Thanks Gat and Jim, that is a cool one isn't it. Ya' just never know what's gonna pop outta these lil' beauties.

The egg man... who me dear? Well lets just see shall we One of the shed saw draw backs during winter time though......... To get in the saw shed, first theres all these ice crystals to shovel!

So here is the one Denise is holding above after it's visit to the saw. Shown wet in this pic right after cutting, should polish out really nicely. Sure hope we don't break none of the tiny tip stacks! Pic is large size for detail, just click on the thumbnail image for the full size pic. Love that new feature!

Baker Thundereggs sure are fantastic! Dan cut one open the other day that freaked Timmy out some.....hehe
It apparently had a fluid pocket inside it, so when it was cut open it had a empty soft looking "egg shell" like skin indide.
The look on his little face was priceless ( ) Next question was "What was inside that one, and where did it go???!!! (as hes looking around)

Heres where it got fun.... (mom loves to tease and have fun)
I said, "well Im not sure, but look at this spot"
He moves in to look close, and I growl...."GRRRRRR".
He jumped sky high....hehe I know, Im cruel.
After a bit of scolding from him, I told him it was just fluid (very very old fluid) that drained out when it was being cut.
Sure is a cool looking egg. The skin like film still isnt hard yet, so were being careful with it.
Not a good one, but heres a picture of it.








Here is a close up of a self collected Colorado Thunderegg. These sure are pretty!

Here is a Baker Ranch egg thats marked for cutting direction. I love looking at these before they are cut.




Who would have known what a patriotic little Thunderegg it would turn out to be....hehe

Here is another great NM Baker pit Thunderegg!
Not polished yet, so shown wet.

This NM Baker egg turned out really interesting Jack!
The left side is AMAZING! The formation on that side almost looks like a snowy tree...hehe
The right side of the egg seems to be a Jasper, but the lighter part is almost clay like. Really soft, I can even pick it out with my fingernail. This one will be interesting to see how it polishes out. We are going to experiment with a different Baker egg that has the same extra soft clay like center. Lets see what we get when we blast out the soft center.




Here is a closer look at the egg on the left.

That last T-egg had a soft white almost chalky material as you see in the last post, notice I said "had".......we've cleaned that material out and we will update with a new pic soon. Pretty cool and now can be polished off without worry of grit contamination.

Now onto this next egg which we recorded on video. About 40 minutes or so condensed down to 9 minutes. Grab a cup of coffee and see how this one turns out.

Wow! Look what happened to the "experimental egg" Dan blasted the soft center out of.
Amazing looking, and the remaining surfaces polished out great. Good job Dan! Saved that egg by revealing it's inner beauty.
Looks like you earned yourself some brownie points....hehe

Thank you Denise, I'm glad we decided to blast it out too. Turned out really nicely.

Here are a few more recent T-egg's from the CP lapidary shop..........Enjoy. These and more will be steamin' into the Miners Market station very soon.
Keep an eye on the "specimens" section, we will also be introducing a really neat new product.

This one is another killer Baker pit egg. We originally planned on one half to polish and slicing the other half, but after a couple slices we decided to keep the busted half for a polisher too. The blues are just amazing and the reds are vivid!


Another Baker pit egg with a nice little quartz crystal pocket. See the nifty rainbow colored twinkles?


And this one is from Mexico with a sweet white/gray color pattern and a nice crystal pocket.
