As you all know....we like to prospect, cut, polish just about any rocks, gems, minerals.... laugh.gif tongue.gif
So it just seemed natural we should combine some of those finds into combination lapidary pieces.
Colorado has some purty' gold and nice dark colored agates.

We have gotten all the supplies together, dug some of that dark Colorado agate out of the buckets, picked out a few choice gold flakes from Vic's, also here in Colorado....... And viola......Let us know what you think.
happy.gif

Oh and the square one is already designated for Geno......but if ya' are intersted in the others, give us a hollar. biggrin.gif

Here is another way I like to inlay gold, especially in the winter. smile.gif

Woodburning and carving is something else I like to do, so I combined them.
This piece is already taken, but If you would like something like this done for yourself, just let me know.
It looks best when personalized with the gold you found.

What a beautiful job you did on that clock!

If only you'd had some prettiergold to work with. That stuff looks like it came from California. GACK! (or is it GAT?)

I don't know of a prospector anywhere who wouldn't LOVE a clock like that!

Thanks Faaus,

The clock did turn out well and hopefully Gat ain't knocked off any nuggets yet! jawdrop.gif biggrin.gif

Here are a couple more projects using gold as inlays and or as dressing material to finish pieces.

This one was done for Faaus with his own gold for a custom order. He said he couldn't find his daughters nickname "lollimom" anywhere on anything.

Here's a new inlay project that's been in the works for ever it seems, shaped it out months ago and finally just recently got to the inlay steps. rolleyes.gif

Turned out really well we thought, a snowflake carved into sodalite and inlayed with some Colorado gold.
Bottom curves of the carved area creates a neat rolling flash to the piece.
Now listed in the CP Miners Market, make this stone the center piece of your next creation! happy088.gif

cloud9.gif You did an amazing job on that Sodalite piece Dan!
I think I even see a few very tiny pieces of Garnets in there with the gold you added.

Keep up the good work your doing....Your creations are fantastic!

Thank you Denise wub.gif
Thank you Faaus biggrin.gif

Was a bit worried during this project as to how it would turn out.
Glad I didn't have to toss it out! smiley-shocked003.gif smiley-laughing021.gif

smiley-shocked003.gif I forgot to add this one to this thread. slaphead.gif

Here is a double terminated smokey quartz crystal. I polished it up and inlayed some of Dans Colorado gold fines into it for him.
Gold was inlayed from the backside, giving it a cool effect from the frontside. Was my first gold inlay with fines so I wasnt sure how much to use.
Next time.............MORE GOLD! happy112.gif Can never have too much gold. tongue.gif

picture of it before the gold

picture of it after inlayed with gold

Thanks for looking.
