Hello everyone,
This is the new CP treasure chest! In future contests or drawings held here at ColoradoProspector.com, you might win the chance to pick your own prize from the treasure chest. Keep your eyes open as you browse around the site and visit often because you just never know when or where the next contest or clue might be found! As time goes on there will be additions to this thread for choices of goodies too. This particular thread will be locked but feel free to start another about it with q's if needed anytime. We like to do things a bit different around here and at events as many of you know. Following posts will have prize choices. See you all soon and good luck! Mineral specimen lot #1
A beautifully white and sparkly clean microcline/albite in combination with smokey quartz crystals all around (shown center right in picture) is the show piece of this lot. Size of the show piece is a miniature at just under 2.5" and is a micromount delight! Also included for this lot, another smokey quartz crystal that at first glance appears to be broken which it was.....but mother nature has tried to fix the broken end over time and the broken end now has been "mended" naturally with many small terminations. The other pieces are, geothite (micromount), a nice pale amazonite crystal with good form, a pseudomorph hematite after siderite (awesome sheen and form), and another light tan colored microcline/albite formation with awesome shape and sheen too! ![]() ___________________________________________________________________ Pair of antique silver spoons Chosen for Geocache #3 prize - Found by Johnny in Colorado 7/2/09. Alaskan origin late 1800's-A really nice pair of Yukon territory spoons. Both have gold nuggets mounted on the handles and one says "Mayo Y.T." in the dish and the other "Yukon" on the handle. ![]() ____________________________________________________________________ Smokey Quartz crystal & Geothite combination (Club Membership Drive 08's 1st place pick by Rich in Colorado) This is a large Smokey Quartz crystal with Goethite and a bit of microcline matrix. Weighing just over 2 lbs and standing approx 4.5" high x 3.75" wide x 3.0" deep. A very nice sized piece and the Goethite is approx. 2.25" x 2.0". There is an overgrowth layer on the quartz crystal faces containing another light material just underneath that shades view inside the crystal. ![]() ______________________________________________________________________ (Summer 09' seasonal drawing pick by Richard & Becky in Mississippi) Triple pack-3 CP Placer Dirts from Fairplay Colorado (2 lb bags) Great for curbin' a bit of the cabin fever or sharing with friends! Every bag has gold! ![]() _____________________________________________________________________ -------------------- CP-Owner/Administrator

Ok this one will appeal to the faceters out there we think.
Rough Smokey Quartz crysttals for faceting - Approximately 124 grams + From the world famous Dreamtime Mine in Colorado. All mined by myself and Mrs.CP and hand picked by us for clarity. A nice range of colors from light to darks. We estimate that a 50% loss or so will be encountered through finishing. So hopefully you will end up with somewhere around 60 grams or 300 cts of clean workable material. We are not faceters ourselves but we have screened these to be some without a "milky" center. We can see very nice transparency in some or most of each piece. Piece sizes range from largest at right center 1.75" x .75" down to .5" for smallest length.

This is a moss agate guitar pick made from a Priday ranch Thunderegg. Very pretty purple hues with green and red spalshes of color.
Classic style/size and appox. 2.3mm thick. Solid and has an excellent polish. In hand there are many clear pockets when held up to a light source. WOW! We thought this would be a nice additon for the treasure chest. -------------------- CP-Owner/Administrator
