This is a pic of the water manifold on me 3", the 5" is much the same only bigger in proportion. See the water comes in the top and then goes into the ventury on both sides- just how did you think I was running a 5" with only 6 hp? lol Putting up christmas lights already- big fun. Mark

That looks like an interesting set up Mark.
Are you bringing it up to run in N. Clear Creek next year? ;) Lets see some more! :) -------------------- CP-Owner/Administrator

Ok, I see what you have going, Mark, and I have some thoughts on what you want to do. I will call you and let you in on it, grin. Oh, for the rest of you that may wish to know what's happening, Mark wants to increase the suction or head on his dredge. There are a few ways of doing this. One way, the way I think he should go, is to add a motor and pump and a dual ventury. This will increase the suction (head) of the dredge. In this way he will be able to use a longer hose if he wishes and will increase the suction for deeper depths.

Mark-
On the 5" manifold setup, what size is your water inlet and what size are the venturis? I was thinking about something along this line with 4 eductors (venturis) instead of 2. Mike |

Mike on my 5" the pump output now is 2 1/2" so that is obviousely the size of the input, (from memory) the two eductors are about an inch OD- maybe 1 1/4", I will see if I can get to it later and measure. If I go to the DP 500 pump it has 3" output so I may need a new ventury flare- I am going to ask Bob if a short 3" piece of pipe going to 2 1/2" (like they do exhaust pipes) will let me use this flare. New flare might be better but this one has everything I need ie. outside coupler, fits on the dredge frame... and Bob said a new one would cost $400. You gonna run an 8" again? cause I think the 2 eductor runs a 6" just fine if ya check out Dahlke pumps- I been running my 5" with only 6 hp, DP250 pump at 8500'- if I was at sea level I wouldn't have to change a thing just running out of power above 10' depth. Anyways I'll recheck that size for ya today and repost. Mark
