Knew that title would draw some attention.
Truth is......it's out there if you can work for it!! ........................ Prospecting for and developing the mineral deposits within our public lands is (Y)OUR RIGHT and knowledge is power. Where, how, when would you find this information? You have found the right website to get you started off and help find the answers! ColoradoProspector.com is an open educational resource to the public orientated towards exploring/prospecting/mining including the rights/laws pertaining to the associated activities on OUR national lands. Find out more by learning about prospecting and mining within this website and join in the fine community of the website. Club memberships help keep the website open as an educational resource for everyone, if you are interested in more information about membership in the club you may follow the link mentioned below directly to the memberships page. Thank you for considering ColoradoProspector club as one to join. All the club members try very hard to help each other understand prospecting/mining laws, regs and guidelines to help us all act as better stewards in the field while we explore. For instance you can learn about road easements........Can you prospect next to/along them legally? Or...........How about NF and BLM lands.......If I can prospect them.....where do I find them and why is it open for prospecting? Or.............When would you need a "permit"? and why? Or..............How do you know if a certain piece of ground is claimed or not? Or private land or not? Or...............What is a public waterway and can I prospect there? Many questions such as this are what we in the U.S.A. run into in all states where prospecting/exploration, and mining are done.........and that being in ALL 50 STATES! CP club wishes to help you learn about these questions. And although many eastern states have little or no national lands, all citizens still have rights to those national lands in other states! Join up with the ColoradoProspector.com club and find out more about the subject. Especially if you don't live in Colorado state. If you do live in Colorado state and haven't joined up yet.........WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?! If this sounds interesting to you, click on over to the CP club membership information and sign up page here http://www.coloradoprospector.com/membership.html We would be honored to have you and your families participation! GOOD LUCK PROSPECTING! CP -------------------- CP-Owner/Administrator

Always remember you're responsible for your activity in the field. It will not matter who said what and sent you or even escorted you to the field. If you're found trespassing, you'll be charged along with anyone else even if "someone said it was okay to dig here".....
If you're asking for somewhere to go on this website, we will always place emphasis on knowing where you're digging before heading out in the field. Don't feel like anyone is discouraging by directing you to research, but quite the opposite actually, we want to help you avoid placing yourself in a potentially bad situation without warning in the field as new prospectors. When you know/understand the basics of getting started in the field, you'll have much more success with less disappointment on your field trips! For those who wish to help out the new comers with location tips and directions here or in private, please make sure you're both emphasizing these first steps of knowledge needed to each person and making sure they've understood the basic sense of why/how before you send them out to the field. I'm sure no one wants to hear later that someone they thought was on their way to a fun day ended up in a bad situation later! Also, that would be sad if they were asking here and that was skipped somehow. Our goal is to help their success rate increase in the field, especially as new prospectors! That's the whole purpose of this website and club but they've got to have the chance to absorb/learn some of that before the shiny pretty stuff can be found. "Dig in" for your success!! -------------------- CP-Owner/Administrator

Yes, that did get my attention and I am in Houston, trying to get a solo trip together for the spring. I would like to meet some folks who live in Colorado so that I can find out where to go when I get there for this and that and the laws and regs. You know, so I wont wind up shot my first trip out there for looking stupid on someone else's claim. Thanks for what I've learned so far and I look forward to meeting some of you when I get there with my tent in tow, along with my camp lamps and firewood. It's going to be a real wild west adventure.
