Hi all,
New to prospecting, been twice in TN and recently joined GPAA. A buddy and I planning trip to CO in a few weeks and looking for some advice on where to go. He'd found what he thinks a likely spot just upriver from Wycliffe on the AK, was wondering about access, etc. Panning and sluicing was the plan. Would go ahead and join CP if it gets me better spots, but money is tight. Whaddya think of the GPAA claims I already have access to, which ones are the best( better) ones? Thanks in advance.

Hi Big D,

Welcome to the forums and prospecting, you'll love learning about the history of mining/prospecting and finding new things in the field! emoticon-misc-004.gif
Thank you for considering the Colorado Prospector club to join, unfortunately we do not have any researched areas for our club members in the Arkansas river headwater recreational area. You can find some nice color along the Arkansas headwater area and there are a couple additional places where you can go .... one is cache creek public area just west of Granite and point bar has a public spot too.

Sorry I don't have any info for you on which is best on gold found, but there will be lots of fines for sure and possibly a small flake/picker or two.
I'm sure some more folks will post up some reviews for ya'.

Stay safe and good luck out there, don't forget the camera too. char098.gif

Should have added that were not married up to AK river, if other areas are better we'd sure consider. Will be coming via I 70 from KS. Went to my first local chapter meeting yesterday, most there didn't have much praise for the GPAA claims. Appreciate the help. Nice site, forum BTW. Glad to see so much info being exchanged here.

If the GPAA still has the Rebel Yell and Yankee Nuggett claims they are worth checking out. They are near Granite.

I havent been there since 08 but I had a little luck there. I thought I was on the Yell but not sure.

The GPAA at Silverton has gotten good reports. No powered equipment if memory serves. Silverton is a beautiful place.

Hi Big D,

If you like getting out to prospect new places then you'd definately like being part of the club. There are so many places a person can explore and prospect around Colorado, it's just great! Our researched areas are widespread and continue to spread out....and we'll help you learn about the same techniques for your own research should you wish.
Thank you for the kind compliments on the site and forum. We've got an awesome group of folks in the forum and the best webmaster any site could ever want. thumbsupsmileyanim.gif
Make yourself right at home browsing the entire website and if you hadn't seen the club membership details yet they can be found here on our club membership page, there is even a membership drive currently running and we'd all be honored to have you and your families participation in the future. Thanks for considering the Colorado Prospector club as one you'd join.

Thanks Boogie,
Thats simple enough. So Denver is the only place we've lost the War on Personal Freedom in the Great State of Colorado.

I wouldn't worry about any animals in the mountains they generally will shy away from people. But on the other hand when you are in Denver be very careful intercity crime is dangerous!
