This mysterious metal can pop up in your pan in tiny grains, or in alluvial deposits such as the gorgeous one below, courtesy of the fine folks of Johnson-Matthey Refinery.

Enjoy.

The J&M Caption which accompanies this photo states:
QUOTE
Recovery of egg-sized
nuggets of platinum is not
uncommon at Kondyor; the
largest nugget recovered
from the operation to date
weighed a massive 3.52 kg.

Mine are jis 'ittle ones laugh.gif

Still the big button on the left is 5Grams, 99.2% pure
Started out with raw material that was 92.8% pure
and "improved it" laugh.gif

Raw material is pictured to the right of the purish button.

@797 plat per oz spot price, 1 gram= $25.62 today.
That button on the left is 5g's, so today's value is: $128.1226891296659486223193904125

(didn't want to leave out any of those expensive 28 decimal places)

Pictures of platinum are extremely useful to miners. The most common material thrown away is platinum. Thank you for posting them.
