This sheath will be getting a fancy lining. I oil-dyed some Sheepskin Chamois and am in the process of sewing it in.

Thanks! Here's a pick of what I'm doing today. This will eventually be the folding knife that will live in that pouch. I bought a parts kit and have been building from that, but slow going. I made the scales from stabilized/dyed Maple Burl blocks. The bolsters are made from 416 stainless steel. Was hard to fit these because of the curve. I'm shaping bolsters today using various grits of emery cloth, takes forever. Once I get them to the shape I like, I'll put a buffing wheel to them. Still a little shaping and lots of buffing left on the scales too.

oopsy.... while shaping one of the bolsters I caused some imperfections on one of the scales that cannot be overcome. Hate to trash purty Maple Burl like that but it is what it is. I'm still learning some nuances, won't happen again. Minor setback... I'll have to use some different wood and reshape another pair of scales. Back to the ol drawing board!

Ended up using some Hormingo wood (aka: Orange Agate or Macacauba). Finished. This is a large folder... 8 1/2" when open.

Thanks Dan! This was a fun build and sheath. I'm going to order another set of parts and try a button-lock folder next. This last one was a liner-lock. I'll try burl again for the scales.
I also made another full tang knife which I'll post up shortly as long as I have the photo equip set up.

Thanks guys! I still have a long ways to go but it's a fun journey.

Thought I'd shoot a pic of the wood I'll be using on my next knife before I mutilate it. chores041.gif
Well figured Box Elder Burl, dyed and stabilized.
If anyone is curious, this is where I get my stabilized woods.... this guy does excellent work! Arizona Ironwood
