Heres the question, went to a known gold claim, found a streak of black sands, worked them down to -100 mesh. All the black sands are gone. Whats left is a dull blonde color fines. I blue bowled the stuff to watch the black sands vacate the bowl. The blonde stuff was too heavy, when stirring it up, some of it went over the bowl, and flashed like gold. My assumption is the dull blondish stuff left is gold??? I screened it from #20 down to -100. Only time I've seen colorado gold is at the roc doc and it looks like that. Other wise what could it be???

My assumption is the dull blondish stuff left is gold??? Yes. Some of it can be so fine that it can cloud and appear to dillute when stirred in water. (If you drink it.... it'll put hair on your chest, swear ta God) I'd say that it's most likely very fine gold based on your description. Thanks, first timer and havent been around anyone who does this. Tops my day off, as, herd of bighorn sheep visited us at the time. Bachelor herd, one full curl, and lots of 3/4 curls. So, again, thanks.

Nice pics of the bighorn, thanks for sharing.
Sounds like you had a great day out there and found some flour gold too. Hair on your chest? Too funny For some more info on Colorado gold you can check out our gems and minerals gold page where we have some cool info and more pics. There are also quite a few threads through out the forum showing Colorado gold finds too. CP -------------------- CP-Owner/Administrator
