With the weather being so nice, the bugs and frogs are out, but I have noticed something else. confused0082[1].gif
As soon as the sun is coming up or going down, I hear this strange bird......I nick named it the loo loo bird because of the sounds it makes in the dark. Loooo looooo loooo looooo blush.gif , or something like that. Does anyone know what bird Im talking about. Sure is a soothing sound. happy.gif

Thanks for the help in advance.

Nope, I have heard those and this sounds much different. Definately a night time bird, I never hear it during the day.

I think it's a Boreal Owl after some online bird song research.
Cool little owl that normally lives further north but does have a small mountain range here in Colorado. They hunt by sound and can hear their prey (mostly rodents) under vegetation or even under snow.

You can have a listen to the "looloo bird" as Denise calls it biggrin.gif from the allaboutbirds.org Boreal Owl website page.
Click on the life history tab to read more about their habitat and habits.
