Hey folks thought I would introduce myself, Friends call me Jerbilly, yep a WV hillbilly that got transplanted to Colorado bout 10 yrs ago.Just starting to learn the prospecting thing this summer. I have been working the grand county area as I live in Fraser...I know not much has ever been found here BUT all the signs are right and it has been found here just really fine palc and not much of it but me and my prospecting partner have a lot of fun lookin . Would love to find someone more experienced to head out with sometime or just more locals interested. Also into detecting and hounding.
On a different note I do have a creek that fills my sluice with a deep red what i think is garnet but I mean it fills my ripple generators with a red you can see just lookin down in the water at it also a real heavy black sand area.I have just been working the top 6" of the sand bars should i keep workin it even though i havent found anything there yet? I can take some shots of the red stuff if ya like I seperated and saved some for ID |

Welcome to CP
Looks a lot like Pyrope Garnet to me. I get a lot of it trapped in my sluice also as it is relatively heavy, rarely anything over 10mm in size though... cool stuff. Now giddy back up there and git some gold! -------------------- /l ,[____], l---L-OlllllllO- ()_) ()_)--o-)_) BLACK SANDS MATTER! Very Happy CP Lifetime Member CP CORE TEAM Referral Code CE213 |

Welcome to the forums smackz and good luck out on clear creek too. You should find some nice color along in there for sure.
I'd agree with Swizz, those definately look like garnets, sweet color too! CP -------------------- CP-Owner/Administrator
