WOW....I now know where to go to get any specimens that I would want, those are just Beautiful.
The second post of the Smoky Quartz is Incredible, amazing just what can be MINED from the Earth. I was thinking again.....( say UH-OH ) I was thinking the MRT could have on a side page a link to where people could potentially see the wonderful things that could be had by investing and getting their OWN Mining Claim?. Get them Involved with Mining by showing them the Potential of their exploits?, A relatively cheap investment for a great return of pride and profit. Let me know... and I can start gathering up the Data for cross-linking to Intergalactic Mining. Smell that?, I smell Potential... Redpaw -------------------- |

A fun day at a New Mexico thunderegg dig. Most all these eggs have large sky blue agate cores,, some with red swirls,, some with calcite crystal inclusions.

This is a 6 ounce placer silver nugget, found near Rampart Alaska. The piece is mostly native silver with minor amounts of the black mineral argentite AgS.
Placer silver nuggets dont last very long in stream environments relative to gold, so it's a rare treat to find one. ^_^

There are times when digging, you fight the heat, cold, dust, rocks, snakes, soreness, and you wonder if it is still worth it. Then mother nature answers your wondering,,,, This one made me sit down for a few minutes, and thank ma nature,, cut it this morning,, :) ;)

Very nice, Sierra, that one is indeed beautiful! B)
Is that the sagenite you've been referring to, those reddish spike things? Sorry I don't speak "rocks" that good, just gold... Shows that all the fun isn't happenin' in Idaho Springs this weekend, eh? |

Yep GT,, but sagenite can be taken two ways,, strictly speaking, sagenite refers to needle like structure from rutile inclusions. These arent rutile, but rather pseudomorphed bladed calcite,, cut on edge they are stunningly bladelike, very tall,, colorful,(most are burgundy on blue agate),, works for me,, Rockhounds like to refer to the structure as sagenitic tho. Rarely in the same new deposit these come from, there are also manganated spears,,, more fun than I deserve,,
