advce on stone cutting

I got this the other day, i want to cut a cab from it using a jewellers saw , any advise will be welcome

Very cool piece Cornwall! Im not sure on cutting it though, I havent cut any of that yet myself.

Did you cut this one yet CW?

Looks like there is at least one fracture you will need to avoid.
Usually I would try to cut across the pattern to show the best play of color while avoiding any obvious cracks/fractures. I've also cut along with the fracture on some pieces which of course does remove most of the fracture with the cut.

The idea is to make a piece usable for the desired cab shape(s) you have in mind.
Typically a cab blank will be about 3-5mm or so slabbed, but I've worked small pieces such as this with only 1 side (back) being flat. It's a bit more work tryin to rough the shape of the uneven top into a dome but it can be done.

What is the material? I'm gonna guess from the photos that it is Malachite.
