![]() Well I thought I'd get a reaction with that last one but no one piped up yet! ![]() So here's a quick tid bitty......... Did you know? Quote from MinePro.com's did you know page. "It takes a mine to build a home. The foundation, exterior walls, insulation, roof, fireplace, piping electrical wiring, plumbing systems, gutters, paint, door knobs, locks, hinges and appliances all come from mined minerals. Copper use in new U.S. family homes rose by more than 60% over the past decade due to new technology. " ![]() -------------------- CP-Owner/Administrator

Minerals are always at work. Wouldnt be much of a life without them!
Here is a small example of what minerals do. You enjoying using your computer? Here is a PDF from NMA (National Mining Association) of some of the minerals it takes for computers. http://www.nma.org/pdf/m_computer.pdf Thats not to mention the rest of the minerals we consume. ![]() Here is another of Minepros "Did You Know?" examples..... QUOTE Every American consumes 48,000 pounds - 24 tons - of minerals per year through various direct and indirect products and services. In a lifetime, every American will directly or indirectly benefit from 3.5 million pounds - 1,750 tons - of minerals, metals and fuels. Thanks again for the great info Dan! QUOTE You either grow it or mine it is very true. Great site!! You like that Jack. "Limestone is used in agriculture to stabilize soil and control pH". Even better to see minerals helping other natural resources being mined........ "The mineral Barite is used to add weight to oil well drilling mud to keep oil in the drill hole and prevent oil from gushing out of the hole." ![]() Miners are my favorite! -------------------- Education is the key to the future,

i just took some of my minerals this morning with my coffee! i feel better now! like was mentioned, most people dont realize that we use minerals all day everyday without even realizing it. thats why most "we the people" decide that mining in our country is bad for us! but if mining was prohibited in our Country, the costs for these every day all day minerals would be REALLY EXPENSIVE! we use minerals for everything,I.E., making electricity, filtering drinking water, proccessing the fuel we use in our vehicals, proccessing our foods/fertilizing the crops that produce our food just to name a few!if "we the people" run the mining out of our Country, the cost for this will be MUCH bigger than this enormouse bail out that is going on!

Here is a good artilce released recently that really shows "minerals at work"
![]() "Analysis documents economic contributions of US mining" from the International Mining website Quote from article...... QUOTE High-paying jobs and dynamic job creation are hallmarks of report that dramatises vital role of US coal and minerals in rebuilding America. ”With more than 375,000 direct jobs that pay wages one-third higher than the US industrial average and the ability to generate as many as four additional jobs elsewhere in the economy Seemed like it fit well here. ![]() CP ![]() -------------------- CP-Owner/Administrator

![]() Independence Day is right around the corner! ![]() I sure love looking at all the different cool colors in the fireworks during the celebration dont you? How is that made possible you may have asked yourself while looking up? Minerals make it happen! QUOTE Each color in a fireworks display is produced by a specific mineral compound: bright greens are made with barium; deep reds are a product of strontium; blues come from copper; and yellows require sodium ![]() Learn more on the colors, and how to make your own colors in lights experiments yourself at Geologyonline.museum.state.il.us. Its also a great Geology lesson for grades 5-6, but I think its fun info for all ages!!! ![]() Stay safe out there everyone, and remember how hard our minerals work for us...... Get rid of mining. Hmmm. Ok, and how, exactly, do those damn hippies expect to have their clothes made? "In China"? LOL! After the US ditches mining, we'll go into an irreversable economic spiral, worse than what we have now. Inflation, beyond comparison. Because if it cannot be recycled it'll have to be bought from overseas.
That's ok. I can always handle it "The Tripper" way! -------------------- Today's socio-political climate is rock solid proof that Adam and Eve weren't prospectors.
If they were they'd have eaten the snake instead of the apple and we'd still be in heaven.... |
