Last weekend I went out riding my atv and found some strange looking rocks when I got off my atv to take a walk. I really wasn't looking for anything, just trying to loosen up my back. As I was walking around these strange looking rocks caught my eye. So I picked one up and looked at it and it looked like a flint nodule. I decided to pick a couple of them up and took them home with me when we finished riding atv's. Since I didn't have a rock saw I took a hammer and broke one up to see what it looked like inside. Well, it looked funny so I pulled out my tile saw and cut one of the small pieces. I noticed right away it was a banded agate, yeah I just busted it up into 20 pieces...ooops. The next one I decided I din't want to destroy it so I took it to a rock shop and he cut it for me. Well I was surprised by this one two, I have a picture of it. These are the first agates I ever found, never even knew what they were, now I know what to look out for.
 This is just a raw cut and is not polished.

Very cool looking agates and good job on the finds!
 Rock saws are handy especially if you like to collect things like agates. You will find it's a chain reaction though...once you cut the rock you will then want to polish it out.   What state are you finding these in if you don't mind me asking?
