Are you talking about the 4-part mini series titled "Gold Fever".
It actually looks like it's gonna be pretty good: Gold Fever Mini Series Appears to focus on the hardships of the 49ers and how America was built on the 1849 rush... like a documentary/reenactment. I'll watch it for sure.
