We couldnt take it...We had to get out.
So we packed up the truck and off we went. Here are a few pictures of the day. Enjoy! This first picture is what it looked like when we arrived. Tempature was 52 in the sun. Water temp was 31, and we were at 10,500 feet.  But I was ready.

It was a fantastic day spent with the family.

I was froze when I got out of the water. Drenched from the chest down, and my hair that was dragging the water was froze.
 Winter dredging tip.....When you get out, move fast or you will freeze up.   Temp was 21 by the time we were packing up to leave. We may go back out tomorrow, but its suppose to snow.

What??? Are You Guys NUTS???? Yeah, ME TOO!.. I sincerely wish I could be there and go out with you, but that ain't gonna happen any time soon. I really hope that I can be there for a short time this coming summer. It will all depend on my physical condition at the time. \
I begin another round of chemo this week...today, lab work... then Tuesday thru thursday the actual chemo. Thanks for the great pics CPx2 |

Fantastic Pics but I'm a little concerned about the use of Denise as a thermometer to test the BBBBBBBBbbbrrrrrrrr effect of the water LOL. Thanks everyone.....we are glad you liked the pics. Hopefully we can put up a short vid I shot a bit later today.
Ummmmm leash Mt?!  NO NO NO.....Any "REAL MAN" needs no leashes and lets his wife have the nozzle first while the gloves and such are warm and dry  ........then I took over once she had worked for awhile....... I can't help that she is a nozzle hog! Was really beautiful out and other than the temps outside being cold, the water seemed about normal....  I'll try to get that little video up soon. Priceless moments like that is what its all about!
Most of the time we spent there was for snow and ice removal. The ice was about 2- 2 1/2" thick. Not bad for this time of year though. Im going to go back with Dan soon so we can really get into it. (down under with air) Kids are going to stay warm and dry at home. They thought that sounded good.....hehe Im looking forward to it Leonard!! Its been too long since we have been able to meet up with you.

 isnt my claim at 10,500 feet? glad you had fun and found some color, looks a tad chilly, but the water cant be much colder than in august

I found out I can't go this weekend. It looks like the weather will be crappy anyway. We went slucing last year oon the 23rd. If the weather cooperates, maybe we can go dredging this year. I'm open as far as to where.

We hope to get out again soon but today it's 15' F according to the CP webcam page and snowing here.  And YES, SHE STILL WANTS TO GO! KEEEEERIIIIPPPPPPEEEESSSSS! Crazy woman! heck yes!! let me know when and where, also if theres any one with a good pair of diving gloves I can borrow im sure I wouldnt need the dry suit, the only things that froze were my fingers cuz the ends of the gloves are worn out ,and i can double suit to keep from freezin my important parts (o right im married i forgot, she has them on the weekends)

Interesting tid bit that stuck in the box......twice!
Had a dry pan of the cons from the winter dredging sitting in the sunshine......nice garnet catches the eye.......but then you look closely and find this. Well, well, well, what do have here? High altitude dredging for gold and this shows up in the pan too! Any ideas on what it is? Must be kinda heavy! Oh, and size is 3mm or less at the widest piont. Very small! CP

Well I'm officially jealous. Looks like today is as nice a day in March that you will get to do a little dredgeing.
Today I'm gonna do a trial assembly of the old 5" to see what was is lost and missing since my new engine is still apart. Hopefuly it won't take too much to get 'er ready for the upcoming season.

Sounds like the new dredge is coming along well! Here is a pic of CP longarming. Everytime we go there, the creek water level has dropped during winter. With the spring thaw coming, our hole is going to be really nice. All this winter work we have done will sure pay off when the water lever is higher.

OK.... So we may just be a lil' nuts!
But....In fact we had a purpose other than just early work. These "exploratory tests" have been very helpful in testing this spot of the creek. The following pics will show what I mean. Here is the first one......pic is of the work done last week (pic of me above).

Now, this pic is of the previous gold with the other gold found during the "winter tests"......Notice anything different?
Even though we are only talking about maybe 20' of creek.....it really pays to read the flow and anticipate the deposits! Think I know where we will be working next time! And by the time the spring melt levels off.....this will be one sweet hole! Here's a short video if ya' like..... (1min) MrsCP is doing some testing both of the ground and drysuit dryness.....but I think the drysuit failed! Winter Testing Vid

Temps have been way too cold to run the pump so far this year to dredge......
 Most of the time its below 20 and thats not to mention the wind chill. Tempatures need to be at least above freezing with lots of sunshine. Careful running your equipment in these cold tempatures, and always dress for the weather. We were using dry suits/waiders and thick gloves to work in the water.
