My girl friend and I are driving cross country in July and we will be staying near Colorado Springs on July 5. Leaving the morning of the 6th and traveling West on Highway 24 and 9 back to I-70. I see the GPAA has some claims close by and I wondering if there is anyone that might help us find a little color. We don't have a lot of time maybe 2 or 3 hours but would love some Colorado Gold. We are leaving Virginia on July 2 and the finally destination is Northern California to work the CVGP claim. We are members of GPAA and CVGP, http://www.cvgp.net
Thanks!

Hi Kyle, welcome to the forums, we all look forward to your future participation.
Safe travels along your trip, you'll have a great time visiting Colorado. I can't meet up with you on those dates but maybe someone else will chyme in soon who can. For the described trip you should stop by the town of Fairplay's beach along the middle fork of the south platte river. You'll have a great chance to find some gold there and maybe even a picker. There is a $5 permit needed but the town office is easy to find on front street.

Good luck on your prospecting adventure.

Thanks CP!!
I really appreciate your input and I just got off the phone with Pam. She's real excited about stopping to look for a little Colorado color. I marked Front Street on the map and it looks like the river runs close. Would love to have others join us.

Kyle

Hi Kyle. Here is a link to the Town of Fairplay website. Click on "forms and permits". There you can print off a "gold panning permit" and have it ready when you go in. Good luck and dont forget to give us updates on how it went for you.
