... just be careful ![]() That's about how I felt with Woody Saturday! Don't have any pictures on my phone, but I have dozens of pictures of deer and turkey at my front door from when I was up in New York. Had a nice 8 point (east coast scoring, so 4 point here) that loved to eat my evergreen bush. -------------------- Life goes by so fast/You only wanna do what you think is right/Close your eyes and it's past/Story of my life - Mike Ness

Here is a bird of a different kind...... a Humming bird. Only as long as my finger.

Love the Hummingbirds. They're showing up late here this year but we get a good variety in the high country.
When I'm doing log home sealants they mess with me all day. My installation gun has a 3" bright orange plastic cone on the tip. They always have to fly over and inspect it. It's not uncommon for me to get over a dozen up close visits per day when I'm up on the ladders. I can't wear an orange, red, or yellow shirt or hat to work for this reason. Last year I saw one hit a window and drop to the deck unconscious. There was a loose dog on the job so I worked near it for the next 20 minutes or so in protective mode. It eventually woke up and sat upright for about 3 minutes then thankfully flew off. It was the first time I really got a chance to get a good close look at one though. They are pretty incredible little birds. -------------------- /l ,[____], l---L-OlllllllO- ()_) ()_)--o-)_) BLACK SANDS MATTER! Very Happy CP Lifetime Member CP CORE TEAM Referral Code CE213 |

Guess this kangaroo rat really enjoys the seed I put out also. These normally stay underground during the heat of the day to conserve water but these are spoiled.

While I was out looking for the Quartz seam Woody found here, I ran into a nighthawk (Woody calls them "Bull Bats") nest. I did not get a shot of the mother because she took off faking a broken wing, and my dog chased after her - no way could Molly have caught her, but she had fun trying!

Cman thanks for the pics. We also have them at home. I didn't have a clue where or how they nested. Now if you would show how and where a Skeach (spelling) owl nest next.

Sweet little baby birds Caveman! Bet they were about to have heart attacks with that dog hanging over them.
![]() Here are a few wild turkeys. We offered a ride but they refused. ![]() -------------------- Education is the key to the future,

I don't get the opportunity to see wild Turkey up here, very cool!
Interesting side fact... the term for a group of Turkey is called a "rafter" or "gang". -------------------- /l ,[____], l---L-OlllllllO- ()_) ()_)--o-)_) BLACK SANDS MATTER! Very Happy CP Lifetime Member CP CORE TEAM Referral Code CE213 |

We learn something new everyday, especially here at the CP site. ![]() There were at least 5 more to the right of the road....was a big "gang" hangin' in the hood. ![]() -------------------- Education is the key to the future,

QUOTE Sweet little baby birds Caveman! Bet they were about to have heart attacks with that dog hanging over them. ![]() Here are a few wild turkeys. We offered a ride but they refused. ![]() Molly didn't disturb those babies in the slightest, in fact, they opened their maws for food when she sniffed them! Wish I'd gotten a pic of that - she looked so puzzled! I never went back so I wouldn't disturb them any more than I already had - and the mother was making noise while just out of sight. Very cool gang of turkeys! We have them down here, but I have yet to have them pose long enough for pic's. -------------------- Caveman

Cman your turkeys may be seeing Molly and change counties on you. And they are probably getting some other kind of pressure. I raised them for years as a hobby and meat. Bought day old broad breast poults for meat and had heritage turkeys as the pets. They are a very interesting bird. Watch em and learn.

Lots of rain lately here so the critters are out thick. Tim was riding his smaller bike on his BMX track yesterday morning and ran over a Mohave Green rattler......with both tires!
![]() Don't worry Caveman, Dan relocated it to a better place.......Snake Heaven, where it will be happy ever after. ![]() The rain also brougt out this cool Salamander! Here is a picture as I first saw it...... Then a picture of it after it saw me. ![]() I know, but who can tell me why it took this twisted posture? Now how is that going to help it?! ![]() -------------------- Education is the key to the future,
