Hi Russ,
Yep got em! TY
I will check them out today.... ;)

I spoke with the location owner from out of state............ It's looking better and better! ;)
They are very excited and we should be able to reveal the local very soon. mad.gif
We have a tenative agreement so far, :D but the owners would like something they can read over that states what the rally's goals are and how we plan to accomplish them...... B) :) mellow.gif

I will be working on this over the next day or two.
Any input anyone has will be appreciated. B)

well as far as something from def real quick, look over on the def site and theres some new chatter about def and all.leonard wrote/posted some of what def is all about.its goals and such. this may help you along those lines.
russau
im sorry, its over on the www.resourcescoalition.org site ,scroll down to the blue box that has def oroville site, click on it. then scroll down 2/3 of the page untill you see a yellow box with oroville aug.8-10 welcome to the washington def rally 2003. leonard had something wrote up that kinda sumerises where def is headed.it has some nice pics you could print out to show the land owners and let them read how we brought the poeple and the gov. agancys into to learn about it all. nice family pics of kids panning. underwater pics of fish by the nozzel and not getting sucked up into the nozzel. it would be a good presentation to show them! see what you think!
CP
Thanks Russ,
Been looking that over and looks like ya'll had a good time there. :)
Looked over the location yesterday and chated a bit more with one of the owners.
I really believe we can pull this together..... ;)
We have a few items lined up to help raise funds ahead of time and we will post them shortly.

We will be in touch Russ, thanks again for your input.

Just a passing thought,

I was thinking that while the rally is going on and a person ( such as Gat ) had a Highbanker or Dredge being demonstrated that during the days final clean-up that the amount recovered could be placed up for bid. ( Blind Auction )

Let me elaborate.....all during the day while the demonstrations are being conducted ( hopefully gold is found ) that the person operating the D/HB could periodically mention that the gold recovered was up for auction ( maybe show onlookers at peek into the D/HB from time to time to peak their interest? ) and have the onlookers put up bids similar to a blind auction ( they know there is gold but HOW MUCH )

The Proceeds from said daily auction would go to ?

**poof** thought is gone....

Good thing you was typing while thinkin...... :P

Love that idea and we are thinking the owner/operator should get one pick out of each days clean up....his/her choice. and maybe one fer each tender too.....what does everyone else think?

CP
russau
thats a great idea from both of you! that should draw a lot of interest from everyone there! remeber, the more of these types of events/raffels that you have, help you generate $$$$ for the operation of the event!the clubs that showed up in georgia had their own raffle also. they had a nugget that the guy that sold tickets had the nugget to show people that were there. and the drawing for all of the raffels were on the last day. this helped keep people there longer. if a person couldnt stay to the end,he made arraingments for someone else to pickup their prize. i carried back several items for the guys in my gpaa club in missouri. the last item to be awarded was the 2 inch keene dredge that leonard used in his dredfgeing class. my buddy ed politte won it! boy was he happy!i felt pretty good giving it to him also!

CP, did you get the rally time-tableand stuff that I sent?... let me know if you need anything else.
geno
CP
We did get a checklist from Russ that has the spot to put a deadline for each detail..... is this the one your'e talking about?
Or if you have a timeline written out that worked for the DEF rallies that would be great!
Didn't receive any thing from you as of yet Geno, what addy did ya send it to? Maybe I'm just missing it somewhere..... wacko.gif laugh.gif
Just use the prospector@coloradoprospector.com and I will stumble into it there.... :D
Would love to have some more input on details..... :)

CP
russau
dan, the time table that i sent you is the one that gene sent me!
thegeno
I guess I resent the same stuff... If you need brochure samples or posters, let me know, ... I can do all that stuff and save you a few bucks. I also have vendor check-in/layout forms, Rally Rules, waivers, news releases, media pack etc...
gene
russau
gene, i think all of that info would be a lot of help for the rally! even making up yellow signs like in georgia(rally<---)(rally-->) this would be great for directing people to the rally area. even if they were hand drawn.
CP
Great Geno,
All that will be very helpful!
If you can send them electronically that will work, or you can send hard copies and we'll scan em. :)

We sent a lengthy email to the owner but have not yet heard back. Should be anytime now. ;)

Thanks Geno, we'll keep on it... :)

i have my fingers crossed!

I like the ideas above on letting the owner/operator get his pick of a nugget for each day. And the tenders were mentioned also. How many tenders are going to be used? Maybe the cons can be screened down to something like 1/8 inch or 1/4 inch, and anything bigger than that can be auctioned, then the rest of the cons can be divided equally into baggies of the black sands and an auction on one bag can set the price for each bag. Or give one or 2 bags to a drawing for kids only who put their names in a hat, under whatever age you think appropriate.
Denise
I think thats a great idea having a contest for the kids Tom.
We are still working on details, but all suggestons are welcome. :) ;)

I can't emphasize how important it is to get the general public (non-miners) involved. You can have a thousand miners there, but you would be preachin to the choir.... for this Rally to have any great impact, you MUST have the non-mining public attend ... make sure that you have someone "local" assigned to that task specifically.

By planning and announcing the Rally, you are already assured that the miners will be there...activities or not....

One of the most important groups that you should invite and INVOLVED is the metal Detector community... they will swell your numbers greatly, and many of them may well decide to add gold mining to their arsenal... The numbers of people involved with MD is far greater than the numbers of miners and we could certainly use their voices when it comes time for action.

Vendors are important also... they will help you get the word out and many times will freely donate items (without your asking) for raffle or auction.

Thats enough for now, if you want more all ya gotta do is ask...
geno
CP
I agree Gene,
We do need to attract as many non-miners as we can.
We have contacted the Eureka Treasure Hunters President and we plan to contact several more...... :)

Now if someone would just give us a date......... laugh.gif :D laugh.gif OH! that is what I'm suppose to be finding out........ rolleyes.gif :) laugh.gif

K, back to the grind....... <_<

Here's a thought that might attract the non mining community to the rally , Live Music , anybody know how to contact Scott Meadows ? I bet he would perform for the crowds . Gotta Get Wet To Find Gold and some of his other songs !!! or how about The N G D B , they are originally from Evergreen , they might enjoy a homecoming performance !!! Just a thought . Dan
russau
well we will already have the colorado culture connection with leonard and the ccc boys! heck, what more could a miner want! haha
DBinCo
Dan , here's a question that I'm getting from everyone ,
What will it cost to get in ?

DBinCo don't know what to tell them !!! :(
Denise
Hi DBinCo,
The rally will be free, but you will have to pay for the Argo tour, or any other town's tour's you may take. ;)
Close by is also the Phoenix Gold Mine
He also gives tours, and is a great guy. :D ^_^
And there is the Edgar Experimental Mine, 303-567-2911. Im not sure if they tour, but I can find out.
I added more info, and pics on the rally page on our web site if everyone wants to see the area some, and the creek.
I hope this helps some. :)
