Hi! My name is Dave and I'm new here. I've been a rock hound my whole life but only recently got serious about it. I look forward to learning from everyone here and participating in some outings.

Welcome Dave! Look forward to meeting you out in the field! What area of the state are you in?

Welcome Dave! Look forward to meeting you out in the field! What area of the state are you in?

I'm in SW Denver.

I've been collecting so far at Wigwam Creek, St Peters Dome, and Yellowcat near Moab.

My other hobbies are camping, hiking, and off-roading. I always picked up interesting rocks on my adventures, but until recently I never went out specifically to collect rocks. Not in Colorado anyway. I collected a lot of fossils and dug through old mine tailings in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia before I moved out here.

I'm a Navy vet and my daughter is an active duty Marine. emoticon-object-018.gif

Here are a few of my recent finds:

smileywaving.gif Hi Dave, welcome to the forums and the club! Looks like you have had some great adventures! happy088.gif

Love the finds, especially the second one pictured!
Bubbles, bubbles, bubbles...and their red!! Awesome find and is probably hiding some even more amazing stuff inside. Only some time on the lapidary saw would tell. happy112.gif

Make yourself at home around the website and let us know if you have any questions.
I'm looking forward to seeing more pics of your new adventures and finds. Some beauties to be found here in Colorado, so stay safe and have fun out there! cheers.gif

Welcome to the club Dave and thank you and your daughter for your service! emoticon-object-018.gif sign0016.gif

Nice chalcedony finds. You have some cool colors of jasper and agate in there. I always like to see the botryoidal forms too.

I am also in Denver. Hope to see you in the field in 2018. Keep your eye out here and the protected forums for invites.

There is lots of great info here to dig into. Feel free to ask questions.
