Since I sold my 30 inch prospector I'm looking for a smaller stream sluice.
Angus makes a 19 inch and a 22 inch and either is a good size for me. I also looked at jobe and royal mini sluices but I'm leaning towards the Angus. Its half the weight, no parts to take apart and lose and a couple of inches shorter. Ive read some reviews but wondered if any of you have used them or what you thought? I'm trying to stay at 24 inches or less and as light as I can go.

The one I had in mind was the "adventurer" model. It's about 22 inches long, 9W- 3D and 1.75 lbs. Its one of the backpack sizes that will take the most quantity according to the website. Very good for low water flow. I know a small sluice like that will need cleaned more often but that's ok. When I find rich placers for a claim I'll upgrade hehe. Until then.......drop riffle design and aluminum rock bars already built in. Usually I'm reaching for sticks and a rock with my sluice already set in the water because I'm in a hurry to find some shiny!
It's cheap under 50 bucks and I could probably take it about anywhere.

I have had excellent results with Angus sluices, particularly in recovering Gold that is #30 mesh and smaller. I have owned and modified several other sluice brands and configurations including GoldHog and Keene. It always comes back to drop riffles for me and nobody does that better than Angus. I am currently considering their "Long Tommy Powersluice" for locations like CC and I think that it might work well for remote sampling on my claims as well. I'd like to run two sections and power it with a small HF gas pump.
Bottom Line: I don't think you will be disappointed with any Angus.

We've got several Angus fans here!

Swizz swears by his mini-long tom. One day on CC he got more gold out of it in 9 buckets than I did dredging.

Here's the day he got 2 grams with it

One great thing about the drop riffles, you really don't need to clean them out as often as you'd think. Unless they're completely clogged with black sand, the heavier material (gold) sinks to the bottom of the riffle, pushing lighter material out. Swizz goes all day without cleaning out his with minimal apparent loss.

I have 2 Angus sluices, my big Alaskan Flare and my prospecting sluice, the Grub Stake

The great thing about their little sluices is how easy they are to set up; they require minimal flow (obviously you have to feed it slower).

One day out at A-bar there was 6 other folks on the creek. They all had AM sluices!

I'll be at A-Bar Monday and will have mine with me if you'd like to check them out!

Well i guess that's what I needed to know. I've read good reviews but figured I'd ask here. I'm going to get it on the way so thanks for your input y'all.
Thanks for the invite crusty but I don't know when I'll be around Denver. My wife has to snowmobile us out of here with my arm in a sling and we've been snowed in up here for three days haha. She just doesn't ride aggressive enough so we've been stuck a hundred times in the deep stuff and she won't ride my long track. We finally got out today and made it to Gunnison for supplies so I hope we can make it home tonight!

I thought about it a few more days and ended up going with the grub stake. It's bigger than the adventurer but will still easily fit in my pack. I was originally thinking of getting the smaller size but they run on alot less water than a similar sized bazooka, so I went a little bigger.

Can't wait to get it now! Whoohoo!

Love my grub stake for creek prospecting. Damn near drop it anywhere and it'll run!

I got an email from them last week, it should be shipped by today or tomorrow. They make them per order I learned. Now that's production. I'm excited to see some shiny in the riffles and I'll appreciate the light weight and smaller size after lugging the big bazooka around.
As of Monday I'm officially out of my sling. I start rubber bands in two weeks then strength training in four weeks. Until then I can't use it at all the doc says. Kind of a bummer but I really can't complain when people have real problems. As much as it SUCKS I won't cry about it. I know the gold is waiting, I'm just impatient and tired of being a gimp. It's great to have that damn sling off for sure.

It's getting bad when I'm considering coin roll hunting. I'll get a box of halves and find some silver! That actually sounds somewhat exciting to me and it's weird.

Also geocommunicator seems to be down and I can't use my land matters maps on my phone for some reason. I haven't tried it on the laptop yet.

How accurate would my land matters maps be for general research? It seems like I could use it in conjunction with the Lr2000? The Lr2000 would be more up to date of course but they claim to update regularly also. I just wondered anyone's opinion. It seemed easier to navigate but had problems loading on my phone.
If it's updated wouldn't the two sites match?

The grub stake is safe and at home now! I can't wait to get out there! Woo-hoo!
