Hey nature lovers and survivalists, found this little ground plant hidden amongst some tumble weeds I was thinning/killing the other day. Almost cleared this little girl out too, but paused and said "that looks different!" Glad I didn't pluck it out. Anyone know what it is? anyone.gif

It looks kind of like Wild Arugula

biggrin.gif Good guess but nope not Arugula...... eating-popcorn-03.gif Any more guesses? chin.gif

My garden instincts say it's kale. If it's a wild plant then I should recognize it but I don't.

Looks like what I would call a Buffalo Gourd Plant?

I say "wild (prickly) lettuce," (as a quote from grand theft auto) "take it, hold it, love it."

Not a survivalist plant but guessing Watermellon?
CP
Good guesses everyone! Truth is I'm not sure what it is either! smiley-shocked003.gif smiley-laughing021.gif

I've looked up all these suggestions and didn't find any of them that looked like this plant though. What I "think" it could be is a wild tomato. I did find some images that had similar looking plants they had named "wild tomatoes". Had no idea there was such a mountain plant but apparently they grow pretty high up in elevation. Are these them? I dunno' We'll just have to wait and see if the little balls/fruit turn red? Interesting looking plant none the less......thanks for trying to help id it and post up updates if someone finds out for sure what the thing is. eating-popcorn-03.gif biggrin.gif

Looks like a variant of horse nettle, a member of the nightshade family. Those "cherry" tomatoes will likely be disagreeable. biggrin.gif

I have those here... I do think you are right that it is a kind of wild tomato. When they crop up here again, I will ID it at the Forestry Service office in Westcliffe.
