I had to do some work out of town yesterday and took my equipment with me. After I was finished with work around 13:00, I headed up into the hills to look for a place to prospect. I came to a place that was county/city property. I looked for signs to see if panning/sluicing was prohibited and didn't see any. There happened to be a Sheriff's deputy there, so I asked him if it was okay to pan/sluice there, and he got on the radio and asked someone else, who said yes. I kind of got the feeling that the answer might have been different if I happened to ask someone else. Anyway, I only had 2 hours, so I
ran 4 buckets of half inch classified material through my mackirk and then took the cons home and panned them out. Not a bunch, but a least I know there is gold there.
