Anyone within Denver metro, that has a rock saw... that could cut a couple things for me.

I'm currently broke, but could pay you for the time/trouble at a later date, please respond. As long as it ain't to far, I'll drive to you.

Don't like sitting on, what if's. Perhaps, what are's. happy112.gif

P to an S, If I need a rock saw again, would come to you first (and hopefully pay at time of cutting) ((current lack of job, funds... you get the idea))

Sorry Colin. I have a tile saw, and it has a nice diamond blade, but I don't think we'd have enough clearance for anything but the very smallest of thunder-eggs because mine has a blade guard that won't exceed an inch or so.

Even then, I think cutting these with a tile saw is a crime against all of crystal kind... the blades just don't get thin enough and are made to less exacting tolerances than a rock saw's blade, even the diamond blade I have. And especially without a steady vice to backstop and steady the advance of the piece, the sucker would just bounce against the blade even if we were super careful... making for a very high probability of shattering the suckers.

I wonder if any of the Universities might be able to help out? They also would probably have the finishing equipment you'd want next to remove the cut marks and get that high polish on your cuts, or if not (or they are uninterested), they might be able to point you in a better direction.

Rats, too far for us. sad.gif I know how you feel about having a Thunderegg and not knowing what beauty may be held inside. They are pretty butt ugly on the outside though aren't they? laugh.gif Good luck Colin and post up pics after you get it cut. happy088.gif

Sizes might help also so one knows if their saw is big enough. Colorado Thundereggs can get really big!
