Welcome to the forum!
Most important thing you can do for yourself and to respect other prospectors is to get smart on how to do your research to ensure you're not claim jumping and you're legally allowed to prospect in the area you head out to.
Great thread to start learning here:
http://www.coloradoprospector.com/forums/i...?showtopic=2638Great thing about Colorado is there is so much available within a short drive from pertty much everywhere. And there is a lot of unclaimed public land with some easy pickings and lots of great stuff with a little work. I've found quite a few great little pieces just out hiking, which led me to more stuff that I had to dig for. And with the breaks in the winter weather here, you can get out year round!
