Hi all. I'm brand spankin' new to the group and forum. I just got a metal detector as well, so I imagine I'll be here a fair bit in the future.
My brother in law, his wife, and his daughter are in from California and we're looking for a half day panning outing this weekend on Saturday. We are likely looking for a pay site, which is fine. We would like some instruction and some hand-holding to get us off on the right foot.
We're looking for areas near denver along HWY 6 or 70.
Any suggestions?

The only place up there I know of like that is at http://www.phoenixmine.com/

Also, Vic's does this, but is on the less hand-holding side.

Hi JJ,

Welcome to the forums. sign0016.gif
Good suggestions guys, those would be two I would suggest as well. Both have some panning and the tour at the Phoenix gold mine is worth the trip.
The link llamabox put up though is for an older version of their site that Al's cousin made some years back. Their current site I believe is this one http://www.phoenixgoldmine.com/
For future references, you can also find both Vics gold panning and the Phoenix gold mine tour links on the Colorado Prospector - Prospecting links page
Have a super day no matter where you end up and good luck!
