Live here in BV. Looking for someone that's knowledgable to the area. I've lived here for 3 years. Have plenty of pans, a sluice, and a very capable jeep. I want to use the jeep to get places other don't, and what not.

friendly, don't cha love Colorado :)

Hey there welcome to the forum! I don't know bv at all really. I just had a thought though. Check four wheeling forums along side blm topography maps to find good locations. Check with bvs laws and regs and lr2000 prior to heading down the trail. (Make sure you're not claim jumping) Also check with chamber of commerce for patented claims.

Please be mindful of what you post as this is a family friendly site. I'm not 420 unfriendly, (although I don't personally partake) but not all members/visitors have accepted the new laws. Just my two cents, but I wouldn't want to see any conflict pop up. Of course, then again, it's not my place... (internal argument, don't mind me!) eating-popcorn-03.gif

Yep and thanks.
I really would like to find someone that has more understanding mining laws and what not. I do plenty of wheelin' and see some really good looking ( from a distance ) stuff but have no idea as to where and where not to go.did the better part of last season a elephant rock got a whole 0.6 g out of it :(

Don't want to do it again. Want to do something different this year in hopes of more gold or just more company

Don't know much about that neck of the woods either, but I agree, it would seem like with all the open land out there, there have got to be some good locations to get to that the average person wouldn't take the effort to get to! Would love to get a small dirt bike and see what I could manage to find out in the back country on an old mining road.

Good luck!

720fly
Yeah all the good stuff must be further way ( fingers crossed of courses ) many many interesting features in the land scape all around. I'm thinking I want to hunt for a pocket of gold in dem hills kind of thing, and not be claim jumping' or gettin' in trouble either.
Dirtbike would be cool, but I'm going to need the jeep to haul out all the gold I'm going to find lol :)

Hi 720fly,

There are some interesting areas around BV and best of luck on your ventures too. Like was said already, it’s just a matter of finding out where there is “open land” to prospect on for the area of interest to you.
We have several good threads talking about the land research techniques and sources around the forums, and we especially concentrate our efforts to help all club members who wish to learn about mining law, claim staking, filing and working depending on their level of interests. If you’d really like to dig into the mining law, claim staking and what follows, I would definitely recommend joining the Colorado Prospector club to you, I think you’d really enjoy and benefit from the club, and we’d all be honored to have your future participation! happy088.gif
Many of the club members have the same frame of mind to go where others don’t, and we highly recommend it! Makes for awesome adventures! signs021.gif

Thanks for the concern fenixsmom as this is a family orientated site. I don’t think there would be any conflict in “420 friendly” being politely mentioned, actually quite the opposite as that new legal industry here in Colorado is another example of citizens acting upon their rights in a big way and causing a change!
We are all about that around here, act upon your rights without treading upon others rights!
Yep, do love Colorado! emoticon-misc-004.gif

Thank you Dan for the perspective and reminder of what we are supposed to stand up for. Please forgive my intrusion and faulty reasoning. 720fly please forgive my reprimand I was ib the wrong and was out of line. I tend to be over protective of the things I care about. This club being one of them for the reason Dan has reminded me of. Please don't alliw my outburst to reflect negatively on the club,. I was simply being an ass and not thinking right. My whole hearted apologies to the club and especially to you720fly.

No worries, i respect the family values and all. Didnt / don't want this to be a thread about such things. I will say that most prospectors I've run into --- generally partake, just a observation over time. So just wanted to add that in as to " get in where you fit in " kind of thing. As some folks would be turned off by it, while others would be like heck yeah mann ( that was supposed to sound stoner ) !!!!!
Finding mining and fishing buddies is a tough thing ya know, got to find the right person

I can give ya a solid "heck ya man". happy088.gif
I don't drink because my body doesn't agree with alcohol at all and I don't mind smoking pot.... I don't think there's anything wrong with that. Pot is legal in Colorado and SHOULD be socially acceptable when used responsibly. Most anti-pot advocates are ironically alcohol users. I'm a bit of a redneck myself, but not closed-minded. emoticon-object-018.gif Drink, smoke, do what ya want responsibly and live free.
I believe that pot is easily the lesser of those two evils, as do most.... I'm not sure how that can be logically or statistically disputed. Maybe hippies gave weed a bad reputation, I'm not sure. I'm more of a Willie Nelson, Waylon and the boys type. Definitely nothing wrong with either alcohol or pot when used responsibly and certainly OK to discuss. I wouldn't condemn anyone for their legal choices, none of my business. I absolutely condemn the use of illegal drugs! 2c.gif
So..... welcome 720! We have a lot in common (Jeep, flyfishing addict, mining, etc) but ya live a continent away. I'm in the Winter Park area so if you ever find yourself in these parts and wanna fish, mine, or whatever... let me know! I'm an old dude and yer probably a young pup but I can keelp up! cheers.gif

Use to deliver beer to your neck of the woods :)
As for your views -- well I coulda woulda said the same. Me and booze is not a good thing ( seeming as you and I aren't the only ones ) people should have a choice, plus the corrupt criminal just system tend to use alcohol as a tool to continue their ( fund raising ) corrupt mess -- better bite my tongue. Either way I'm hoping to head towards Kreme-tucy for the salmon fly hatch, and might take you up on that offer swzz, and of course roll a phatty :) same goes for you if you end up down this way
Cheer's or should that be toke's lol

Small state. And he!! Yeah teaching' Rick the beauty of streamers fishing was such a great time, and a honor as stated before. He even bought a rod for chuckin' streamers
Grew up in nor- cal and spent 5 days a week at the " Fly Shop of redding, Ca. " learning to Ty from Mike Mercer and Randall Kaufman after school ( truely blessed for that time in my youth )Fishing and panning go hand in hand with me, love the river. Any way sound like we should go fishing. I've got a line on some private waters out here, so.... Maybe that could encourage a meeting up and take some fish and some samples :)

Hey 720, I'm just south of you in Saguache. I try to get up there now and then as Cache Creek is an easy place to take the kids to do some panning. I am not familiar with the area, but I am free a lot of the time and have a 4wd, sluice pans, etc. 710 and 420 so feel free to hit me up anytime. Always looking for a partner for the field.
