oh my God, we had so much fun! thumbsupsmileyanim.gif
It was a pleasure to meet Henry who is one hard working dude.... non-stop and he knows his stuff.
Very nice to see Pat, Woody, and Scott again... I missed you guys.
Pics and vid coming soon. The weather was really nice until about 4:00 and we finally got rained out. For me it was the first rain storm and panning of 2014, fantastic day!
I think the other guys (hopefully) may have taken a few pics too, post em up here! Yeppers, pretty sure we all scored some Gold too, which is always a nice bonus. happy088.gif

..... jeez, I just realized that I'm fairly sore after sittin here for a bit. Need to get back into mining shape! emoticon-misc-004.gif

Sorry I missed it :(

Can't wait to see the pics!

swizz
Vid should be ready shortly.... editing now. That youtube editor kinda really sucks.
swizz
Ok... here's the short vid I shot yesterday. Woody was already upstream so unfortunately I didn't catch his mug.
Video quality is only so-so. I'm kicking myself for using my smartphone... I had my Nikon DSLR there and it has an exceptional HD video feature that I forgot about. bash.gif
Watch it on full screen 1080P setting for best results!!!! Otherwise it is grainy... use the youtube settings.

I have to wait a while for the vid to load, but so far, from the short opening that I can watch, it looks great!

Scott may have gotten some really good Gold from the Trommel. We were seeing it in his matting but I couldn't capture a good pic unfortunately. I got a small amount of micron Gold but haven't Bowled it yet.... I'll update with that pic sometime in the future.
Meanwhile, here's a peek into Woody's pan. happy088.gif

Very nice guys, looks like you all had an awesome club members day on the creek! thumbsupsmileyanim.gif CP_Member.gif
We'll all be looking forward to more pics from the rest of you as well. char098.gif

Great video for a smart phone quickie Swizz, nice work! I enjoyed seeing it and noticed some really nice looking spots right there too! signs021.gif
swizz
Thanks!
I wanted to hit some spots on the other side but was chicken to cross it. Woody crossed upstream a ways where there was a stretch of slack water but I didn't want to lug all my stuff up there. I had to keep an eye on Pat anyway. wink.gif giggle.gif

Nice guys! Better save some of that shiny stuff for when i get back!

A couple of quick pans shows a lot of native lead - good sign for a good clean-up - I'm hoping for 2+ grains.... we shall see!
Woody
That was a great excursion.

It was nice to see all of you guys again and meeting Henry was pleasant as well. I think we all had an enjoyable time. Wish more of us could have made the trip but there will be other opportunities.

Just like you Chris it was my first rain of the season as well. It felt good though, not too cold. I checked my concentrates over real close and that single piece in the picture was by far the biggest I could come up with. I think the gold grows a little bigger on that far side. Probably because it is tough to get to for most of the year and most folks stay on the near side. Those blocky chunks in the pan are Magnetite. Always a good sign that you are close to the gold when you have heavies in the pan.

Whenever you get out or go on one of these outings you just never know what you will find or what might happen. Finding a little gold is always kind of cool but my best memory from the outing will be when a fish swam down my sluice and then right back up again. I had my hand in the sluice poking around and it came in with such an unexpected rush it kind of startled me a bit and I jerked my hand out of the sluice. It just swam down to the end, turned around and swam right back out through the mouth. In a flash it was gone. I gave it the customary greeting of the day and had to chuckle.
So my motto for this year is going to be, “Get out there, and let nature happen”. Hope to do some more outings again soon, Woody.

Sure had a great time. Hope everyone found so gold. We will have to do it again. Thanks to all met new friends and learned a lot.

Looks like it was a fantastic time!! Would have been great to be there, will just have to catch the next one. I love the rain, it rained here yesterday for a while........smelled great!! Definitely a sign that summer is coming. extra_happy.gif

Thanks, Denise! I stopped having it cut after the heart attack, 'cuz I just don't care what people think about it any more. It would have been great to have you guys there, too. It was great meeting you, Henry, and I figured out what the problem was with the backflow on the trommel - TOO MUCH water, I backed down both the hopper and the tube sprayers, cleared the exit chute after every 3 - 4 shovels, and it worked just fine. Still learning, and I'm going to add some more spray holes on the tube bar so that there is some water on the exit chute, that may help a bit. Your help in the beginning helped work out some of the issues I had with the sluice - I think it is dialed in now, the cons look terrific, lots of native lead, lead shot, sinkers, etc. in the 2 pans I have sped through. I am going to class it to -12 and run it through the Gold Cube to really concentrate it. I will post pic's later this week. Woody, Pat, and Chris, it was a blast, and I really enjoyed the outing, and appreciate the help in packing up. Great Teamwork!

Later!

Great attitude! Wasn't it Kurt Cobain that said " I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not"...... smiley-clapping.gif and I agree!!
We're getting there! Hopefully we can make the next one. I would love to have some time with that trommel you have there! Sweet little unit and looks like a blast to run!

Hmm I heard that saying from five finger death punch too. Oh well, good saying regardless and full of meaning. I'm glad you kids had fun!

Click to view attachmentClick to view attachmentHad a lot of fun. Thought I found the perfect spot for finding gold. A flake just laying there on top of the dirt but it turned out to be just gold paint. What a let down.
Caveman
It was a great day anyway. Results of the first pan through are not good, though - about a grain. However, there are at least 3 grams (or more) of native lead and some lead shot. If there was gold there, I would have caught it. I am going to cube it, then blue bowl, and post pics of the final tally of both the gold and lead. At least I know that if I was catching the lead, I would have caught the gold.

Thinking the road paint was gold is not an uncommon thing to happen in that area, especially being so close to the road. Stuff is even buried in the dirt down by the creek. slaphead.gif Don't let it get you down, happens to everyone at some point. happy088.gif Even when you find a nugget, everyone will want to test it or bite it. smiley-shocked003.gif Don't let them!! laugh.gif

Caveman
Yeppers - it fooled me too, and I had run into it before! I guess it will happen again, sometime.... but now I know to be suspicious - gold on the surface, riiiiight! Dang, but I was hopeful, I wanted a big result to share.... Henry, as soon as I finish it, I'll send you the vial, I'm just slow about finishing. Way too many things to get done around here!
Caveman
OK, no pics yet, but I did pull out some of the lead that I caught, both native and lead shot... totaled 3.7 grams. Man, if I had caught this much gold..... would have paid for a 1/4 tank of fuel! smiley-laughing021.gif Phone is dead today - forgot to put it in airplane mode - so no pics of the lead, not that you would want to see it other than to see what picker size flakes of native lead look like. Kind of like grey/white to blue/grey flakes of rock. Acts just like gold when you tap on the pan, too. It's a real pain in the patoot.
