Thanks! That is a good looking place there. No panning is even allowed...but I would sure like to dredge that area.
Bedrock is shallow.Old bedrock is exposed and has crevices everywhere.

Now,even though no panning is allowed, what if ones wife loses something so we dig up a few buckets of material trying to find it? LOL Should have seen me turning rocks with my pick while looking over my shoulder!

The piece of gold came from another property down from this. The samples here seemed to have a little floating gold in my pans.I am going to add a little soap and run through them again.

Okie,
There is a place in eastern Oklahoma called K River Campground just north of Antlers that allows dredging, high banking, sluicing, panning, or metal detecting. It is open to anybody though I believe they charge a small fee( something like $3.00 I think). They have camp sites and a few cabins there as well. There is a club out of Greenville dredges up there a couple of times a year. I haven't been there but a good friend of mine who deals in metal detectors has been several times. He says its nice. Just thought you'd like the info. thumbsupsmileyanim.gif

was just there a couple of weeks ago very nice place. rented a cabin for a couple of days had a wonderful time. tom the owner was telling me he keeps trying to get people to go to the far end of the property and dredge but they allways want to stay right by the camp. he was telling me there is a bench that keeps catching all the mats. right at the edge of his property! very open as far as what you can do prospecting. tent camping is $12.00 a night cabins were $50.00 a night. i have a bunch of pictures of k river but i will have to figure how to post them here. we did not find any gold but was not for lack of trying. gold is small flakes and fines.Click to view attachmentClick to view attachment the wife snoklingClick to view attachment a shot down river my sluice was set up between the gravel barsClick to view attachment the cabin we stayed inClick to view attachmentmy sluiceClick to view attachment and yes they are there this was a little 2ft.er we seen as we were leaving
