Maybe I'm missing this, but what are the plans for another Rocky Mountain Miner's Rally?
russau
inquireing minds want to know also!
Coalbunny
Ok, the results of a secret poll are....
Garry's the host, Swizz get's the pizza (beer's bad for us in our "years" so we'll make do with Iced Tea), it's in the back of a leak-free Chinook, and Garry's flying! smiley-shocked003.gif

russau
how about long island teas??
Coalbunny
Sure! But only if Leonard brings them, and then it's gotta be in 5 gallon jugs!

Thanks for posting this up Carl. As of right now we do not have any plans for one. Not to say there couldn't be one planned out with enough interest in both attendance and possibly vending, and a good volunteer task force to help connect all dots as directed for details to come together.
Pass the word around to see if there is interest in one everyone, and post your input as well.

Well, considering the locations of the last rallies, let's pick another! I can think of #1, and that was in Idaho Springs. Then the one a year or two back that was in Fairplay (IIRC). Next in line (to have modern facilities) I think would be Aspen (just to tick off the communists & the greenies), Leadville, Breck, Gunnison, Crested Butte, Creede, Cripple Creek, Glenwood Springs, Marble, Georgetown, Golden (I like Golden because of the Coors plant, the School of Mines, and Clear Creek) and Buena Vista. If modern facilities aren't required, the list just quadrupled in size.
PM me with the number from the last rallies, Dan. I'd sure appreciate it!
CP
Location is sure a huge part of it and I'd tend to agree, a new local to spread it around the state. happy088.gif
Check your pm box Coalbunny.

Who else would be interested in attending and or volunteering? anyone.gif
Coalbunny
Boy, I sure do see a lot of eager beavers out there!

I got your PM and am working on a reply.

russau
id be very interested in helping/attending, depending on when it could be held.

smileywaving.gif stirthepot.gif Ok boys you've just been volunteered! Sure sounds like fun.
Do ya need a supervisor?? Seriously though a suggestion would be to look for a place that's
around 8 to 9k in altitude. Some folks have a hard time with anything higher.
Coalbunny
Heck, we'd volunteer "just because"!

I dunno about the elevation limits, really. Fairplay isn't much different than Leadville.

nm jack
greensmilies-017.gif Fairplay is at 10k
Coalbunny
Fairplay is roughly 9,900' to 10,200'. Leadville is 9.940 to 10,600' (my place is roughly 10,097'). Alma is 10,300' to 16,660'.

stirthepot.gif HMM maybe further south.

With this much advance time frame, locations could be just about anywhere depending on many factors.....ie field demos and types, vendors or not etc.
Really though at this point, we need to see first if there is interest enough to put one together as I said on the first page.
Pass around the word and see if more folks are interested in a rally. If they are, we'd like to know what type of activities would be of interest here in this thread. There are so many possibilities for field activities, vendors, educational demos etc.

Ask your friends everywhere you visit. What do they think about a Colorado Rally event in 2010? Would they like to attend and or participate in organizing one?
nm jack
emoticon-misc-004.gif atomic.gif Is this open to public or is it just for members only??
nm jack
emoticon-object-018.gif How about Labor Day when creeks and streams are more dredgeable???
anyone.gif
CP
We try to have at least one club members event every year no matter what. biggrin.gif This "rally" though would be open to the public should there be enough interest in one. A rally is ALOT MORE WORK to organize and hold for larger groups.

Dredging is one possible activity but also very limiting if that's all we try to think of right off. There are so many things to prospect for and many different techniques, locals etc that would follow.....or even possibly multiple locations over a spread period like the 2007 rally was.

Who else is in? poke.gif anyone.gif
Coalbunny
Right now dan knows of a few claims I'm working on getting. And IF I get them, I'll open them to a group shindig. But that's iffy right now.

I have my eyes on a few local areas that are known for good gold, but they are privately owned and I'll have to talk with the owner first.

Keep in mind Jack, just because this shindig may be hard to get to because of either location or elevation, it's not the only one or the last one. They'll always be others.
