What an amazing sight in the early morning sky the last few days!
Several dozen an hour I have been seeing. Fantastic bright trails from many can easily be seen. cloud9.gif
The Orionid meteor shower peak is tomorrow morning early, so dont miss out. You just need to get outside and look up.

Thank You! Orionids - That's what they were. I couldn't think of which meteor showers these were. I was hunting near Como the past couple days and enjoyed the show when I woke up early morning. Darn it though, my wish hasn't come true...yet.

Check out the meteor shower calendar app if you have a smart phone. Sends reminders a week or so out, so you never miss a peak... even for the 1 of 5 star rated showers lol

Sky was perfect for watching......completely dark even when the small crest of moon rose up around 5. Only saw two but the dark star filled sky, quiet surroundings and peaceful time was priceless. happy088.gif

It was clear enough here in the Springs to see them as well. Last night before bed I spent a few hours figuring out what settings to use on my new camera. I got up at 5:30, took the camera and tripod outside and saw one right away. It was nice and bright. I got everything set up as I wanted. I then took 954 shots over 30 minutes and missed the only other one that I saw. Well at least now I know how to set my camera to get shots of stars.

I did get a series of shots of a plane coming out of the airport at 6AM and it looks like a HUGE meteoroid. Well except for the last few shots where you can see the wingtip lights strobing.
