Hey all,

As many of you know we are big on history and education!
Well today's world tends to lead us all into "ruts" where we kind of forget things we shouldn't!

I found this link at the National Mining Association site and it rings very true.
NMA-Mining, the stuff America is made of!

One of the most important parts of our AMERICAN HISTORICAL CULTURE is......
MINING!
Unfortunately even that "culture's" preservation is currently being used to stop the very same of todays world without warrant or merit.

Well......In the mind of "lets learn some more fun stuff to pass on".......let's!! biggrin.gif The fun thing is learning and passing more info on to those who don't know....like those who say mining is bad! tongue.gif or destructive. dry.gif mad.gif SHEESH!!

Although one wouldn't really think about it unless asked........Just how many minerals are in the computer you are using to read this? unsure.gif
Take a guess......HA! happy.gif
You can find the answer here...again NMA......what a cool site!
NMA-Minerals in a computer

Here is another interesting page.......Ya' ever wonder what other kinds of minerals we use as a society, and for what? blink.gif How about zeolites....what the heck are they? And what would we use those for. There are almost 50 natural zeolites and over 150 synthetic kinds.......whew!! Well next time you take a drink of water...think about it.
Wikipedia-Industrial Mineral list

And here is a list (metals) even the USGS keeps tabs on! smile.gif
USGS-metal prices 1959-1998

WOW!!
Well if you read through all that and didn't learn something new.......GO BACK AND READ THEM ALL AGAIN! laugh.gif biggrin.gif

Hope you enjoy....pass the word. THANK A MINER! smile.gif

There should be a mining day on the calendar.
That would possibly bring more awareness.

Thanks for the great info Dan! I will definately be passing on this info.
