You crack me up Russ! laugh.gif Just be careful not to sniff to close to these trees. Tim leaned against one the other day with his hand, pressed it right into what he said "looked like a little chunk of lung or flesh" hanging on the side. smiley-shocked003.gif I told him, "well the big birds have to eat too, they seem just as mess as you can be also." giggle.gif

Here is a Shrike perched in the cats tree. These birds are really cool but love to mess with her head. laugh.gif She has caught 2 now off her tree in the yard. They get into it pretty good with the cat, so I make her let them go. Surprised she still has eyes with the beak they have. Talk about a loud scream they put out calling for backup! smiley-shocked003.gif It called 3 there in less than a minute to help and continued to holler till I brought the cat inside. whew.gif

Zoom into pic so you can see it's beak....

we got back from our trip today and with it being a Holiday weekend(motels/hotels packed) and the rain in the afternoons and my wife not feeling well we ended up cutting our trip short! I wanted to go help Leonard with some work on his claims earlier but we just couldn't make it happen. having a pet along with us didn't help any either! next time she will get boarded at a kennel!

I'm sorry to hear that Russ! Hopefully Leonard is getting the claim work done without any problems.

Ok, here's a couple of my pics.

Here's a Fox that spent the winter in my backyard in 2008. This was taken from my bedroom window. He's about 6 feet away and looked at me right before I took this.

Attached Image

Here he is getting ready to take a nap under my pine tree. He used to leave me a single Rabbit's foot after each meal. It was like he knew it was lucky, well for him and not the Rabbit.

Attached Image

Here's a Male Bobcat that used to hunt in the wash behind my Tucson apartment. I swear he knew I want to take his picture and he posed for me.

Attached Image

Here's a female Bobcat in the same wash. She was less photogenic.

Found a family of Beavers at the pond on the Middle Fork of the South Platte River in Fairplay. If you stood on the bank and didn't move, they would swim right by.

Overly friendly and well fed Chipmunks in St. Elmo.

One of the few places that it's OK to feed them by hand. They were all over the people there.

On the cog train to Pike's Peak. We had stopped for a few minutes when my daughter spotted it right up the hill. It was perfectly camouflaged.

Fantastic pictures Rockyrat! Really love the big cats, my favorite. Amazing wildlife you have going through your yard.
Thanks for sharing your pictures.

Great pictures Scratch! That Mallard duck sure was flaunting his stuff for the ladies. giggle.gif

This crazy cat of mine sure pushes her luck! Tim was in the house by the kitchen window and heard a rattle snake....with the windows shut! He went outside to find the cat and a huge green rattle snake face to face....both puffed up! smiley-shocked003.gif Safely got the cat back in the house! Stupid snake was in the fenced yard up against the house but no longer. mellow.gif I can definitely see why they say cats have 9 lives. wacko.gif Crazy how there is no record of green Mojave snakes in this area but those are the ones we keep seeing. slaphead.gif
