Gents,

I need a bit of help. It seems mining land I am interested in claiming has been claimed by a company the Forest Service owns, it even gives a Forest Service employee's email .fs.fed.us as the claimant??
This sounds strange to me anyone that knows the law? Can they do this?
They are never going to work any of these claims?
So why would they claim? Is this even Legal?
Please advise..

A company the FS "owns?" How does a gov't agency own a company? Or is it a company that contracts with the FS?

The Federal government can not locate mining claims. BLM employees may not locate mining claims. Some other federal employees may do so with full disclosure.

5 CFR 3501.103

43 U.S. Code § 11

43 USC 1743

There are more but that should give you a start.

OK Four claims are filed two for Placer and two for lode... The company is called Wolf Energy. Wolf Energy is owned by

http://data.ecosystem-management.org/nepaw...amp;exp=contact

So is this legal or what?

Even the guy's email is @fs.fed.us....

Spoken to him and he requires 30 notice of filing.. then he goes and files the claims.

Does not sound right to me.

Wolf energy inc. Is a private drilling company. 100% legal. They are listed as a special project that won the rights to drill in that national forest.

It is a private company; the FS email is just the FS POC for the project, not the claim owner.

Great answers Mike, fenixsmom and Crusty! thumbsupsmileyanim.gif
One very important factor is being missed here though that I must add. I notice that you are in the U.K. DD and the only way to file/operate a mining claim here would be if you are a U.S. citizen or had a company that is licensed to operate in this country.

Hopefully this info is helping you some. Lots of great info in the forums here....Dig in and good luck!
