I know it doesn't open until memorial day, but when does it close for the 'season'? I have a week off in september and am hoping it's still open so I can go spend several days out there.

Also, I stopped by there only once for a couple hours... is the little creek by the parking area the only water, or is there water further back as well?

Thanks

I believe the creek next to the parking lot is NOT Cache Creek. Cache Creek is further behind the parking lot. I hope you have better luck than I did a couple weeks ago. And yes, there is water in the further creek.

Arbo, it's open from memorial day to the end of November, at least thats what it says on the BLM web site and on the signs at the parking lot.

The creek next the parking lot is a diversion creek, then there is another creek about a 1/4 mile past that (a branch of Cache Creek) and then the main Cache Creek about 1/2-3/4 mile in further.

there are alot of people using that area this time of year, the family & I will be heading up there in the next week or so. Good luck!

Thanks for the info, I have been thinking of using a few day's of my off time mid sept to go out there and just dig dig dig. I have a much closer site I usually go, but figure maybe I should change things up. I have only been there once for a few hours, but ran a few buckets in that stream by the parking area and it was pretty good gold, so I might do better out there for a few days than I do at my usual spot.

I stopped out at CC on my way to and way from Denver the over the past two days. Got some color, learned a bit about the site and what to look for. Of note, a new thing there since I last stopped by (in June), now many of the trees have orange painted on them, you are not allowed to dig within 8 feet of any of such marked trees. Which means a lot of ground is now 'off limits'. Just thought I'd let people know who haven't gone there in a while.
