Thanks for the article! Is the first I heard of them in Colorado. Amazing how they were able to take our cold winter!!

I was actually referring to the Killer Bees defense of the Miami Dolphins - You know, the ones that got exterminated by the Redskins.... And yes, it's amazing how the Africanized bees traits have made it this far into the north, but they are far less aggressive now due to the hybridization..... just imagine how bad it could be if they remained as aggressive as the originals. It's bad enough now as it is!

Here's two Bucks that my daughter and I encountered on a walk near our house. The Buck on the right was missing one side of his antlers. Two days later I had 5 Bucks and a Doe walk right by me on my morning walk. The scary part is that the alpha Buck (not the one in the picture, even bigger) has shed his velvet and pretty much let me know that he wasn't happy that I was there. Needless to say I gave them plenty of space. I didn't have my camera with me.




Here's a lizard that I saw at the Topaz Point Picnic Area on Rampart Range Road. I really didn't expect to see a lizard at 8800 feet ASL. It was sharing a rock outcropping with some Chipmunks that were very camera shy.





This is a male Rufous Hummingbird at my feeder. He actually glows a gold/copper color in direct sunlight. I'm still trying to get a picture that really shows how bright he is.





This is a male Calliope Hummingbird. The purple chin markings are really hard to see unless you manage to get a close up picture.





I think the bird below is a female Orange-crowned Warbler. It flew into my living room picture window and knocked itself silly. I went outside to make sure it wasn't dead and it was just sitting there. After I took a few pictures I put on my gardening gloves and placed it into a nearby tree.

I recently took my daughter down to the Lake City area to go exploring. Here's some pics of the wildlife.


We rented a small cabin near town and the caretaker told us where to go look for Moose. She was right. We did see a large Bull in another location, but he was far away and had no interest in letting us get anywhere near him. That was OK since I know they can be temperamental.




I had also asked where the best place to see Deer was and she said that this time of year they stick close to town. Since it's open season I understand why. On Sunday morning it was rainy and 5 bucks decided to come by the cabin.





In case you don't notice, the side of the cabin is on the right side of this picture. I was about 8 feet away from this guy when I took this. I swear he was thinking that I couldn't see him behind the tree limb.





I also took some shots of the fall colors and may start another thread for those.

I shot This video two weeks ago at my inlaw's house in Woodland Park. Stepped out back for a smoke and about 2 minutes later the ladies came down from behind the neighbors garage. It's sad that they've become so used to people that they have almost no fear, why can't I find a deer like that in the woods when I'm hunting?

Install a feed plot and allow the woodland creatures to acclimate to you. Then you can name you new found animal friends. Then in a year or two, you can call them to you by name and proceed to murder them while sipping whiskey.
