Mrs Crusty recently took a stained glass class at the local community college and really took to it! She bought the equipment to do it at home and has been making some cool stuff. What prompted me to post here is she's started to incorporate stones and shells in to her pieces! here is a shell piece and one with a few translucent rocks we tumbled. The possibilities of what she could do here are exciting... a piece with a thunder egg slice as the center, something with a few cabs worked in... could be some cool stuff!
OK, we need to see pic's. Show us!
That's going to be some nice work I'm sure Crusty. We had a forum user some years back who made really neat lamps from stone slabs in "stained glass" style shades/creations.
Here is a pic from one of his....also a pic attachment test, seems to be working for me Crusty.
Snowdog's creations are really pretty, check out some more in the original thread if you'd like......

We'll all be looking forward to seeing pics of "Mrs. Crusty's" creations soon too.
Very awesome! I can't wait to see your work!
Hey..... maybe we should have an Art & Crafts or Artisan section in the forums? It is kinda Off Topic but we have a lot of super talented people here. I usually put my stuff in Living Off The Lands but that's not always a truly good fit. hmmmm?
Very good idea!
I think that is a fabulous idea!
Done deal!! Fresh wall paper and everything.
Oh and I fixed the broken link to the other thread which wasn't working......no one even told me, sheesh!
Hey Dan, your clock is an hour ahead as well ;)
Actually my clock (when signed in) shows the correct time. Have you set your time zone for yourself when signed in yet fenixsmom?
You'll find that setting when you go to "my controls" then scroll down to find the "board settings" link to the left, there you can set the proper time zone (GMT Mountain time) and even adjust for auto daylight savings time adjustment if you want.
Thanks for this Dan!
I'm going to move my knifemaking thread on over here, better fit.
You're welcome and I'd agree knife making will fit here in this new section nicely.
Ah ha! I retract my complaint! Thanks Dan!
I would love to see pictures of your wife's stained glass work Crusty!! Really fun stuff to work with, can even incorporate pieces of mirror in the project giving it a cool effect. I use to have a blast doing stained glass work!!
Not sure what's up with your computer. Show it who's boss and let's see those pics!!
OK, giving this a try again!
A friend of mine asked Carol to make a green heart for his wife for Mother's Day; her first "commissioned" piece! She had 2 ideas, so made them both so he could pick from them and he bought them both
WOO HOO... it is working now! :) (thanks to Mrs CP reminding me of the 4mb file size limit :) )
One of the first projects she made at home; teal ribbons for ovarian cancer for all her sisters, in memory of their mother
The first heart she made
An early project around Christmas, a snowman ornament
She thought it would be cool to integrate some translucent stones in; I concur, it was!
A small framed abstract
This is her first tree... she is currently working on a panel of 4 trees; one for each season!
Very cool work Crusty! Tell her I said she's doing a fantastic job, they look great! I love the hearts but I must say that the tree is my favorite. The stones do look really cool incorporated into the work.
Thanks for sharing pics of her work with us!!
Amazing work! I love the hearts but especially the tree.
For all you Broncos fans out there (GO SEAHAWKS!!)
lots of talent shown here!
Nice work!!
Major Kudos! That is very nice work!
Been slacking... here's some of her latest works.
A Seahawk for ME!!
A Dallas Cowboy star
and a Texas Longhorn
Tampa Bay Buccaneer
A Dr Who Tardis
And she's working on a pretty awesome project now that I can't wait to share!!
Shock and awe.... this is some incredibly nice work!
Holy b-Jesus... I'll be posting up one of Mrs Crusty's insanely beautiful works here in the near future, and it is a personal piece.
It is truly an heirloom work of art. It will be in my family for many years to come.
Here is the piece and it is stunning.
Very accurate depiction of my mine cabin. Her choices of glass for the colors and textures are spot on, she really nailed it on the logs and even soldered detail into the log corners!
I am amazed with this work of art.

This is an enhanced image of the cabin which Crusty created and gave to me. As you can see, the glass depiction is strikingly accurate!

How long has Mrs. Crusty been doing this? I am very impressed. Is she up for commission pieces yet?
A few more pics of her work. THe pig as the first one she ever did.
The AMAZING hummingbird was her second (yes, she must be a natural to do something so cool so quick!). It hangs in the window in our shower.
We got an old cabinet at an antique store and she made the glass for it.
Here is what I kinda had in mind Crusty...
She does amazing work Crusty!
