Sweet day on the digs!
Check out some of the sweet purple Fluorite I got while out digging with Anita.
This small Fluorite plate is going to clean up nicely. After cleaning it off more, they look to be very deep purple.
This cool little piece has deep purple on every tip making it look like a mountain range.
I love prospecting in Colorado!!
Cool finds in more ways than one! Congratulations ladies!
Thanks Faaus, sure was a fun day.
Here is another small Fluorite plate.
We still need to clean them all up a bit.
More pictures of different Fluorite finds coming soon.
OOOOOOOOOOO Nice ones hun'
Now off to the cleaning bench for the first and last in the pics.......
Let me at em'!
Thanks Dan.
I have some other combination ones, but I havent gotten pictures of those yet.
Here is a bigger Fluorite. This is the front view.
Back view.
This one also need some cleaning up still.
It was 8 below 0 the other morning so too cold to dig right now, but good weather for staying inside to clean goodies. Here are a few more that are getting a cleaning.
After a closer look at that last plate, it seems there were a few baby blue Fluorites hiding out. Nature was kind on this dig!
Hi Denise, I used to go fishing at a dam in the pennines and the gravel road into it was all fluorite its very pretty material ,it was used over here as a flux in the steel industries smelters.
They are all closed now
Very pretty rocks!
It sure must have been cold to turn that pyrite blue! Y'all need to turn up the heat a bit.
faaus (astute mineralogist) (ass-toot rockhound) aw heck, gold prospector!
You crack me up Faaus! The blue ones are my favorite.....
Here is an amazing Fluorite Anita found and gave to Dan for his birthday several years back. Its purple on the one side, and powder blue on the other, with snow white Microcline on the bottom.
Weighs just under 2 pounds! Sure is a pretty one!
Come on CP........Lets see its pretty blue side! Flip it around would you please?
Ok.........
Here is one a little bit closer........my fluorite has goosebumps.
Guess it was kinda cold!
Hi Dan & Denise very nice and great pics. Would love to go to that spot with you.
Here is another fluorite that is said to be less than a common occurence........
Fluorites on amazonites and it's "mashed" in with smokey quartz too
Your pictures blow me away Dan! Excelent color combination!
Here is another look at some Fluorites occuring in an unusual place.
(Pepppered on Smokey Quartz)
~Dont you just love Colorado Fluorites!?~
Here is a picture thats not so close so you can see the Fluorites on the Microcline.
Dont want to leave any out.
This is a great combo specimen!!
Here is one of the Fluorites from page 1 cleaned up more.
Nice purple!
<------------Proud mom!
Timmy is so thrilled with his Fluorite find, that I told him I would share a picture with everyone to see.
Good job Timmy, your a natural born digger.
Quentin knows Timmy likes Fluorites, so he gave him this one from his claim.
Some kids have all the luck!...hehe
O
Maybe you all like your Fluorites to come with more Microcline?...hehe
Here is one with a purple and a white Fluorite.
Dear CP:
Those are certainly some nice fluorite specimens. I was laughing out loud reading about the ones with goose bumps because it was too cold. While prospecting for uranium, a couple of years ago, I came across some "hot fluorite" specimens in float as I looked for the orebody. The sandstone was impregnated with purple fluorite and uranium ore. Here's a photo of the float that I encountered and it really sets of the Geiger counter!

ASTROBLEME
Very nice Johnny,
Thanks, we try to keep them warmer now though.
That sure is a "hot" purple too......don't burn your finger!
So now we have hot and cold fluorites in here. Just don't let em' play together or the temp change could crack em both!
Thanks for sharing the pic Johnny.....and how did the uranium prospecting go that year?
CP
This one is a tiny lil Colorado fluorite we found recently in an unexpected local.
Very small and looks clear with a nice cube form and some purple or blue phantoms. So small it's hard to tell which color.
Here is another sweet Fluorite combo specimen out of Teller county. This piece contains a big Green and pink Fluorite on the bottom, Microcline with tiny quartz crystals, a Hematite after Siderite (pseudomorph), and a sweet Amazonite on the side. Its approx. 3" long and 1 1/2" tall.
Here are a few pictures of different views. This one will clean up nicely!!!

Look out!! Attack of the purple phantom
Sweet one Denise! Nice picture.
This is a piece I found somewhere in North Park, CO. I think it has Calcite attached.
Here is a side view of the Fluorite on post #28 on page 2 of this thread. This little piece continues to amaze me!!
Can you see what Im seeing in this pic?
Great info Chris! Sounds like a good book. This Fluorite is definately a keeper! Your right, it cant be seen from all angles. The effect from the smaller Fluorite attached on the back, just popped in there when I turned it..... Along with more detail on the backside of the larger one.
Now one can see why Fluorites are one of my favorites!
I really like this thread!! Some sweet Fluorite finds.
Here is a larger example of the great green Fluorites found here in Colorado. This piece fills the palm of my hand. Lots of fractures but definately a keeper. It even has a smaller purple Fluorite under the green ones.
really cool piece.... and big crystals!
I have a great Fluorite/Smokey on Microline specimen that I bought from Q and will have to try a photo session one of these days.
I love those combo specimens!!
Speaking of fluorite, I've posted this before but some of the newbies might not have seen it.

It's since been totally reclaimed and no longer there.

In the stair way to the top on the double beam it almost looks like a pair of ears on some critter looking back at ya
Here is one for you Mrs.CP. A blocky, heart-shaped fluorite on quartz.
Sweet heart shaped Fluorite Mike! Even looks like a bit of Microcline at the bottom of it.
Thanks for sharing your cool find with us.
I made a video of the minerals my friends and I have found rockhounding for fun. First half of the video shows Quartz, Goethite, Amozonite and Topaz. Last half shows Fluorites including some very large colorful specimens and a large smokey quartz set on feldspar.

Great finds Mike!! Those will clean up really nice. Sweet baby blue Fluorite, one of my favorites!!
Here is video of some of my recent Fluorite finds. The first half of them are light purple with gold colored sparkles, they have some of the best clarity and luster that I have found in the area. We are finding them with smokies and Microcline. The second half are blue with blue sparkles and phantoms inside. We are finding these with the Goethite and Quartz. There is no audio with the video, so don't stress, your speakers are likely working just fine.

You Bas... great scores man, I'm jealous.
Wow Mike,
I'm very impressed with your Fluorite collection. I had not seen these videos before, glad I happened to look just now. It also looks like all of your Fluorite is home grown in Colorado. To me that makes them even more impressive. Nice job, keep them coming.
Something funny..... I literally just sat down to the computer to start putting together my Fluorite Collection video. I am in the process of making a video that shows the many different types and properties of Fluorite.
What a coincident. But don't worry, mine will not be as impressive as yours.
Very enjoyable, Woody.
Fantastic Fluorite finds Mike!!
Looks like your claim is treating you right and yielding some awesome pieces. Love the colors! Congrats on the finds.
Nice Mike.
Wish I had some place to dig.
Colin
Some Flourites from Pikes peak granite. They are cracked and included. But they have a wonderful lavender color, with hints of green.
Over the weekend I went up to the claim and met up with friends to search for where the topaz came from. We didn't find any more topaz but I did find a pegmatite exposure that had not been looked at yet. I worked this new pegmatite for most of the weekend and it produced a few fluorite crystals and about a hundred quartz crystals most of which were double terminated, tabular/flat and included with goethite and mica making them sparkle several different colors.
Here is my best find from the peg, a pale green fluorite with a cluster of quartz attached.
That is awesome Mikey!
Nice looking stuff!!
Sweet Fluorite finds! Looks like you all were having a blast finding the goodies that day!
