Hi! New to the club & love collecting rocks, gems, fossils, petrified wood-anything else shiny. Just curious how legitimate the "Claims" for sale on E-Bay etc are and if anyone has any history or experience they would like to share. Not local so the possibility of actually finding my own is slim to none.

Most of the mines on eBay are worthless ground from my research. Just my opinion.
Never hurts to go test it in person and if it's legit the claimant should be happy to let you. -------------------- Level 2 member -12/25/16

While I'm sure there's a couple good ones that pop up, 99% of the claims listed for sale are "paper claims", with the only thing getting mined is the poor fools who buy them sight unseen.
So much open, unclaimed land to prospect out there. Most never find ground worth claiming, why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free? And if you ever find ground worth protecting, then file a claim! -------------------- Find Colorado Prospector on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/170314493176558
