Colorado gold often has a reputation of being only flour size or very small in general but yet Colorado state produced "Tom's baby" in the 1800's at a whopping 13lbs 9 ounces from the Breckenridge area as well as more recently, a 44 gram nugget found in 2007 at the Gold basin mine.

Gold nugget in matrix found at a CP club researched area in Colorado.

Nice Colorado nugget with interesting shape/character

Gold is at all time highs this year prompting many to study up on their prospecting techiniques and processes. For those of you who like to read up on the geologic information, this is a pdf from the Colorado state Geological Survey's Rock Talk series for Colorado gold.
Excellent reference material.
Attached File  ColoradoGold_RockTalk_rtv6n2.pdf ( 4.93MB ) Number of downloads: 6110

Grab a drink, gonna' take awhile to read this one. biggrin.gif

For some additional information about Colorado's gold and links to mineral data check the Colorado Prospector gold page.

Happy prospecting to everyone! emoticon-misc-004.gif signs026.gif May all your pans be full and heavy this year! thumbsupsmileyanim.gif
