Watch out folks, this highly stupid current administration believes it can just take YOUR OWNERSHIP of our lands!
Write your reps soon and repeatedly if needed about this proposal. The BLM does not own the land nor do they have any "delegated authority" to claim such legally.
Just read it in this current proposed wording....."existing metal mining claims will not be affected, but they can volunteer to go on the "lease" system if they wish" Don't be fooled, who in their right mind would voluntarily give up their full "ownership" of minerals so they could then pay a royalty on extraction of the same?! WTF! Seems like a big NO brainer to me!
Write those reps and give em' the what fer'! This budget proposal is ludicrous! Much of it must be removed or kill the bill!
I've just updated the pinned thread in valuable reference today for easily http://www.coloradoprospector.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=2139! Pass the word and the link!
Please do not rely on anyone doing a "mass petition", that is not an effective way to act upon your rights as a citizen. If you want YOUR opinion to be counted, MAKE IT YOUR OWN AND MAKE IT COUNT!
Someone's mining miners! The gov is a business. There in the business of screwing everyone over for monetary gain!
You may want to write the Department of the Interior as well as your representatives.
It is the Federal Department that manages the BLM and NF.

You're very welcome Mike! and thanks for posting up the correction as well.
That's an important tid bit for everyone to know when learning about/understanding your rights to prospect/mine and which laws or regs are "applicable" or not.
Dan, if they are illegally taking what is not theirs, can they really expect to take any action against us for us complying with the law?
I don't see how they can force me to lease anything when they hold no ownership rights to it.
This is a case I'd lose to see in court!
Yep Coalbunny, ownership and authority (or the lack of it) is the crux of the issue. All misused terms and assumptions (leased/royalty paid minerals and locatable minerals are not the same...can not be mixed), those details are distracting from the most important fact! They do not own it and they have no authority to "claim it"!
Voice your opinions folks an remember what makes it count in the end...... You do!
