Her is the page with info governing Point Bar:
http://www.blm.gov/co/st/en/fo/rgfo/minera...e_minerals.html They have not updated for 2014 yet, but you can follow these. Remember, for motorized equipment (fuel or battery), you must have a permit for each piece - combo units must have a permit for each part of the combo being used.... if you use it as a dredge, permit. Highbanker, permit. Power sluice, permit. Good Day! -------------------- Caveman

Wow. They include battery operated, now? Didn't used to.

Ran by the Royal Gorge BLM today (getting new tires at Big O on the same block), and the lady in there told me that you need a permit for any battery powered piece of equip (save a metal detector) on any BLM property. I said "Really?" (instead of "BS"!). She said that it has been this way for a long time. Could this really be true? It's the first I heard of it, and I have been digging into those rules pretty hard the last year or so.... I think she's misinformed, but then I also think she was a FS agent, not a BLM agent. I did not get to talk to Stephanie as she was out.
Yes, Russ they include battery powered equipment in both the Royal Gorge Canyonlands ACEC and the Grape Creek ACEC (and also Cache Creek). They have for at least 2 years, but have not updated their signage yet.... -------------------- Caveman

Could this really be true? No. Classic example of a misinformed, uneducated, or hidden agenda employee.... possibly all three of those criteria. I should have corrected her, but I did not have the facts in hand.... I did somehow withhold the "Bulls***" exclamation. She also said that 25lbs was all that was allowed to be removed at a time/day, which pegged her as a FS agent in my mind, and which made her extreme lack of knowledge obvious. I just blinked several times and noted that a lot of rocks worthy of being collectable weigh more than 25lbs, then she rambled on about casual use, etc. At that point I asked to talk to Stephanie, as this woman has an air gap between her ears.....

HMMM? id be glad to hold my "limit" to 25 Lbs. of gold per day!!!!!!! I don't think that would be unreasonable! Neither do I. Also, she said a 5gal bucket of material was legal, and I just couldn't tell her that that could be well over 100lbs, depending on the material. -------------------- Caveman
