Hi all, I'm new to the Gold Rush. Engineer that loves the outdoors. I thought it might be fun to pan for gold in-between casting flies on the river.

Long story short, my dad panned the gold for his wedding band, passed away when I was 12(now 33), and now that I'm set to be married I would like to do the same - June 2018
6th Generation Coloradan, and I inherited a few old family claims in the Nathrop area, they mined tourmaline. I pay taxes on them, but they've been collapsed/blown shut it appears. It would be a goal to pan/process enough to make a contribution to the ring, or in total.

I have a garrett panning kit and got two colors from my first trip to clear creek, near tunnel 3. Not sure what other equipment is needed(Keene stuff looks nice), but would like to draw on everyone's experience and start being an active member of this community.

Welcome to the forum and good luck on your adventures.
I have the same plan on a new wedding ring for my wife but this will be a 30 year anniversary ring.
There is plenty of gold out there still. It's just a matter of finding it!

And for tools just use what you have until you figure out what you need for the areas you dig.
