Colorado Prospector - Gem and mineral prospecting and mining forums _ SOLD or Found! _ Selling my prospecting shack on wheels

Posted by: Crusty Apr 15 2016, 04:26 PM

I bought it last July for $800. It used to be a pop-up, but a previous owner framed it in the up position, as well as framing in a ramp door in the back. I just hauled it through 12 states/6400 miles.

I love it for what I'm using it for, something to haul my gear in and then camp in. But after taking it on a long trip, I realize I want something bigger that I can also put my motorcycle in and do some more travelling.

Only thing I've done to it is put new leaf springs on it ($400) and new tail lights.

It does need some work to keep it in action. A fair amount of dry rotted wood here and there that will need to be replaced eventually. Would be a great project for someone with the skills to refurbhish it.

Here are a few pics. If anyone is seriously interested I can take some more and chat with you about it.

It really is a unique trailer and I wish I had the time and skills to do the work it needs.

AND, it already has Colorado Prospector Club decals on it, so you'll be ready to represent the club! CP_Member.gif

Just looking to pass it along to someone who will appreciate it. For my CP peeps, I'd take $500 for it.

I would like to see some pics of the inside for future prospecting trips. Places to stay up in Salida, Co are upwards of $2200 a month for the cheapest, cheesiest motel room and that takes a lot away from my being able to stay in Colorado any length of time.

Thanks!

My main man Swizz hit me up this morning and snatched it up.

It really is a great option for this purpose and I hope to find something similar, just newer and that I can load my bike in. I don't need all that fufu camper stuff; I need a place to haul my gear, my bike, and to sleep in.

Really don't want to buy new, but this is pretty slick!

Happier than a Corgi on stilts. thumbsupsmileyanim.gif
It will have a happy home at the mine this season.

If I was the mechanical type, this would be a pretty bad ass rig to make in to an off-road RV!

This might be an option... but not sure I want a 14' trailer.

Really don't want to buy new, but this thing could be pretty cool. Wish I could find a used one!

Wow, as far as looks that last one takes the cake. Very sharp... would match your beasty truck.

Damn, if only this wasn't in Deleware!! Couldn't imagine a more perfect build! He said he got a shipping quote to CO and it would only be $800... maybe he's spit it with me :)

Here's the full thread on the build. Guy does pretty good work!

If you're in to fabricating at all, read the thread on his camper build... it is really some amazing work. Really has my thinking. Consiodering that jeep trailer new is $6k, something like this completely custom is a steal at the same price!

I would be tempted to go with that one, unique and very well built.

I put a reply in the thread... And he confirmed what I hoped not to be true... It is too small for.my big ass bike :(

After sleeping in a trailer, I won't go back to a tent unless I HAVE to! Just to easy, quiet, and weatherproof! Now I just gotta find one to replace mine before the season!

This might be a good option... just gotta drive to AZ if I want it.

She's bringing her camper that sleeps six so we should be snug and safe -- to a point; however, we do have our weapons! I will be looking for my own for next year. If my cards are correct, I will be "bargaining and trading" this year so it sounds like I'm going to have good luck in the field! Yeah!

Y'all should have fun! Hope to meet you out there somewhere!

Think I might go check this one out... way up in Firestone; may drive up there next Thursday before I head to Mike's and if I buy it, I'll break it in out there lol

14' is a little longer than I need, but it is lifted, so clearance shouldn't be an issue.

If you get a chance, I'd love to see how you set it up on the inside Crusty.

Haven't done anything to it yet... still pondering. For now, I just throw up a cot.
