Looking over Steve's adventures in Colorado's mountains....All I can say is that he is one lucky man
(that he gets back alive). ohmy.gif

Here is a link to American Red Cross' info on staying safe and prepared when out hiking or camping.

Stay safe out there and know your limits.

Be cautious with increas in altitude. I can't expound on that enough. Seen a guy last summer that was from San Diego and was nearly passed out becauseof lack of O2. All he did was walk 50 meters from his car in "downtown" Winfield.

Im always careful when Im out doing anything Carl. Living at this altitude(10,000 feet), I dont have that problem..........but thanks for the info. smile.gif

Thats one reason why they use places like this to train athletes to build up their endurance. Then when they are back at lower elevations, they move like the wind. biggrin.gif

Here is a warning sign, of another thing to be cautious of when mountain hiking. huh.gif unsure.gif mellow.gif

I took this picture when I was out enjoying the day, hiking and prospecting yesterday.
A mountain lions favorite way to hunt, is to stalk its prey and pounce on it from above.

There are 'cats reported on the west end of BV recently. Went for a hike a few days ago and saw hints of one close by. I think the critter was about 50-60 meters away.

They appear to be well fed so far, so they likely see grown adults as preditors and would leave them alone if left alone themselves. But pets and kids....NEVER trust a 'cat. ohmy.gif sad.gif

I like big cats. happy.gif
But if there were 2 adults standing by a rock cliff, the smaller and slower one will be the chosen.......Even if they are an adult. unsure.gif

excl.gif Hint.....dont run! biggrin.gif

Here is a picture of the area I was out hiking on.

Here is a pic just below the Sweet Home Mine. happy.gif
Still be a few weeks before that road is open. Unless your like me and like to travel by foot.
biggrin.gif

Some of the snow drifts can get as deep as 6 foot or deeper back in there.
Just out of this pic around the corner, there is a 6-8 ft drift.
