Hello everyone,
If you hadn't seen it yet last month, we have an awesome little fluorite picture showing beautiful phantoms. Normally Denise likes to put up a new picture every month but I like this one so much that we'll be leaving it on the homepage for the month of September too.
(she made me say that so everyone didn't think she was slackin')
Check out the http://www.coloradoprospector.com/ fluorite image and enjoy the website everyone.
CP
Slacker is one thing Im NOT!
By the looks of this months pic, one can tell CP cant keep his fingers out of his pan.
ive seen this rock in Wyoming. what is the name of it. it looks like granite and ???. i dont know what the green mineral is.i think i have some of it from my trip to Wyoming this year.

I merged your thread with this one Russ. I set up the home page picture with an ALT tag, so if you point your cursor on the image it will tell you what it is . Many of the images on the website do it.
Unakite is some really cool stuff! The green material is Epidote. I used some Unakite for the "http://www.coloradoprospector.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=3856". It polishes out nicely so is great for tumbeling and working for cabachons.
Here is a picture of that sweet Fluorite CP was talking about. One of my favorites!
thanks Swizz and Denise for the info! now i know!
Here is a better look at the specimen picture on the homepage this month.
A great Colorado Amazonite, Fluorite and smokey Quartz combination.
Colorado is not only a place of great beauty but a place that offers a wide geologic deversity.
"more than 774 different types of minerals found in Colorado"
Here is a more detailed pic of the picture featured on the http://www.coloradoprospector.com/index.html this month...

Drat and double drat! The camera battery died just when I had several humming birds waiting their turn at the feeder!
You still have time to charge the battery and get that picture Caveman. Taking submissions for next month now.
No club member pic submissions for this month, so I just used one of my photos for the homepage.
We have some Thirteen-lined ground squirrels that are the same way. Was funny watching it eat a grape.
The pictures don't have to be new ones. They can be photos you have had for a long time, they just need to be yours.
Well now - I got some good ones in Broomfield, taken by Karen and myself from all over. I'll have to raid her facebook pics to get some of the better ones....
Check out the http://www.coloradoprospector.com/ for the picture Mike (Scratch60) submitted for this month! Very cool picture Mike!!
That's a really cool pic!
I think it's an Ermine.
Outstanding pic! That is a weasel in its winter coat. I've seen quite a few of those while hunting the flattops.
New month so new homepage picture. Have a look at the beautiful specimen that was submitted by Swizz.

Ya, come on people. I know Crusty and a few of you others are great photo bugs.
I wanna see yer pic on the Home page!
Any club members have some pictures they'd like to see on the Colorado Prospector home page? New photo goes up tomorrow, will it be yours?
Wow Crusty, that first picture is spectacular! Almost looks like an oil painting! Nice shots and I can tell, you loved your hot wheels when you was little huh? Me too!
But I don't think that quite fits the criteria for submit instructions That is a killer picture though! Love all the hoar frost, it really accents the caddy. Nice day to be in Garden of the Gods!
Another great shot Crusty!
Here are the details for home page picture submissions from page 1.....

very interesting shots Crusty! they looked sureal when i first looked at them! that was a great time to have your camara ready! my camara just decided to stop working for me.
Great picture Crusty!! We made it this month's http://www.coloradoprospector.com/ pic, thank you.
Nice pic!
Are you getting a handle on HDR processing?
I kinda have mixed feelings about HDR. It's become really popular and most of the public images have too much of an over-saturated look for my taste, it's getting somewhat abused or passe. I like the look you created with this pic and the Caddi pics though.
My taxidermist buddy has been dabbling with it for a few months now and I like what he's been putting out... but he's also a pro nature and studio photographer. I'll mess with it at some point but don't have the software yet. I have to prioritize a bigger lens before anything.
Anyways.... awesome work Crusty!! You rock!
No submissions for this month, so I add a picture I recently took of a Colorado goodie.....check it out!
Looks like the nodules my kids pick up in Del Norte.
Some great stuff in that area also!! My son Tim actually picked up that one. Don't you just love when the kids get into prospecting?
He thought it was cool that I added it to the homepage.
That is an outstanding specimen for sure.
The first flake we found at Cache creek my 8yr old said oh wow and reached into the sluice to grab it.
Too cute llamabox!! I bet you looked like this when they started to reach into the sluice.... .......
Some of my fondest memories prospecting have been with our sons!!
January's http://www.coloradoprospector.com/ picture was submitted by Swizz.... Thank you! Excellent shot, check it out when you get a chance.
Have a happy New Years eve tonight everyone and may the new year bring you great things!
Beautiful crystal!
Me! Me! I'm Feb. LOL - (side note, I just had a scary thought of a calender of myself... shudders) Anywho, anything from endless - maybe one of the shots of the collection (from a day trip or the collection overall) or just one of the bigger crystals. I'll post some pics of the ones I think'id be good. If/when (I locate them in the mass of photo's I've taken) and/or if this is still a need be.
Colin
