Hello Treasure Hunters,

Over the past three years, my wife and I have enjoyed the opportunity to hunt for the famous Forrest Fenn Treasure. The clues found in his book have now brought us to a very special place. We’d like to share a search technique that might be useful to other treasure hunters.

We discovered a large stone circle, possibly of prehistoric religious or ceremonial significance, in the general area we’ve been searching. As far as we know, the structure has never been publicly recorded or otherwise previously investigated. Apparently, similar structures having 8 spokes are rare occurrences in North America. The site is pristine and the geometry of the well placed stones appears to be undisturbed.

In an effort to better understand our discovery and use that information in our quest for treasure, we’ve determined the headings for each of the 8 spokes. Searching is now focused along these headings with a hope that one of the spokes is aligned towards the treasure. It is very exciting to make such a discovery and we now know what is meant by “The Thrill of the Chase”.

More information on the treasure hunt can be found by visiting Fenn’s website here;

https://www.oldsantafetradingco.com/

A current source covering research into stone circles is a lecture by Paul Burley, The Sacred Sphere – From Stone Circles to Higgs Boson: Implications of Sacred Spherical Geometry. Here’s a link to the video;

Very cool! I have done a lot of researching and have a couple of potential solves. One of these days, I'll get out there and look for it. Hope that you are onto something. What a cool find it would be. Its all about getting out there and looking for it. Happy hunting!

When searching along the magnetic heading for two of the spokes, we've encountered trees that have been altered. A strange twisting of the trunk and/or branches is clearly visible while none of the other nearby trees show anything like that. It appears very conspicuous in some of the branches but only minor alterations are observed on other parts of the affected trees.

There are some researchers that claim an unknown energy source creating a vortex is being released along ley lines found at similar structures. All I know is that it makes for beautiful stumps!

I was being "BRAVE AND IN THE WOOD" as required by the Forrest Fenn treasure poem. This aberration is just another example of a twisted tree as noted above...

This tree was so tightly twisted, it appeared to have just exploded mid-way up. Notice how the other nearby trees do not show such an anomaly.

Kinda looks similar to lightning struck trees. The bark tends to die in a swirly twisted pattern like that. Whenever im splitting wood i seem to get alot of those little rascals that's split in a twist like that but very dense.

Posted by: ASTROBLEME Aug 30 2018, 06:10 AM

Forrest Fenn worked as a logger, so we're sure he would have taken notice of these twisted trees.

Here's a link to a video of him telling his logging story;

Big fan of Forrest Fenn's hunt.. and a very interesting lecture. I now know what a Disdyakis Dodecahedron is. smile.gif
Never seen such twisted trees before.. I would have guessed a tornado.. but how cool. happy088.gif

While searching along the headings indicated by the radials of the stone circle, my wife discovered an ancient stone shelter! The rock walls that were exposed to the outside weathering had lost the mud-like mortar that held them in place but relic mortar joints were still evident under the protection of the rock roof.

There were numerous "twisted trees" at this site...many old and decaying as well as some young and growing trees.

We didn't disturb anything and left quickly after taking photos. If someone does come across something similar...they need to be aware of the animal droppings that will be scattered about. The dry, dusty floors certainly are health hazards if not wearing protective gear and taking appropriate precautions.

Denise,

She giggled and blushed when I told her what you said. Others say that she has eyes in the back of her head. As for me, I trust her eyes without doubt…since she took at liking to me at first sight!

My wife saw this horseshoe hanging in a tree along the perimeter of the sacred stone circle. We think this is significant because the last page in Forrest Fenn’s memoir (detailing the treasure hunt) displays a double omega colophon that signifies “horseshoes”.

Additionally, Fenn describes in detail how long the piece of iron needs to be to form a horseshoe on Page 135. He continues to tell the story on page 136 of how his friend, a blacksmith, explained to him the method to determine the length of iron needed to fit a horse's hoof. He watched him make a horseshoe and really was moved by the whole experience. Fenn finished the tale by writing that " Those things are important and I'm richer for it". chin.gif emoticon-misc-004.gif signs026.gif

We were saddened to hear the news today that Forrest Fenn is no longer answering e-mails and is pulling back from further public exposure to the "THRILL OF THE CHASE" treasure hunt.

Rest assured that we are still on a quest for the gold. Given the statements Mr. Fenn made about not taking a radial from the "BLAZE", we feel the thrill more than ever!

Both of us are sincerely grateful for all the thrills that Forrest Fenn has given us the opportunity to experience over the past few years.

Dear THRILL OF THE CHASE Enthusiasts,

There are natural geological structures that exhibit a circular expression at the surface on the Earth, Moon, other planets and asteroids. In my fieldwork over many years, I’ve taken advantage of opportunities to examine many anomalous circular features in the Rocky Mountains.

Some are of the same causation;

http://www.coloradoprospector.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=5007&hl=38TH+PARALELL

Some are not;

http://www.coloradoprospector.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=5123&hl=COALDALE

Humans are attracted to circular landforms created/maintained by “high energy” influences . Those sacred features they’ve found at natural sites having a spiritual connection is often replicated at other spots.

Some of my focus in the Thrill of The Chase has now advanced to the patterns created by a COREALIS EFFECT!

Sincerely,

ASTROBLEME

Hi Denise,

This find was exciting for sure. Near the end of the poem that contains clues to the location of the treasure is this line:

"If you are brave and in the wood"

The entrance to the wood shelter wasn't well traveled. We were brave enough to go in...

Dear Africabound,

Here's a photo of us from our Sacred Stone Circle site taken just a few days ago while searching for Indulgence. We've had to remove the other photos due to the rush of TTOTC treasure searchers taking interest in our effort without giving proper credit to our work. We're hopeful that you will understand that we are willing to share as much as possible...without providing the location of our search area.

We hope all searchers find what they are looking for.

Sincerely,

I've gotten a greater appreciation for that area after learning about the Folsom structures discovered near the Big White W southeast of the airport on Tenderfoot Mountain. Here's a link to some of the info...

Ahh, I can understand that. I only recently (this month) learned of this treasure hunt. I have been looking at the various forums and realize the "search community" is a wild place. I hope you had some good luck! If and when you decide that your spot is not the likely hidey hole; I would appreciate if you could share the location of the medicine wheel. I would love to see it one day.

Thanks,

Mike…, Mike…, Mike,
Today is another Hump Day.
Try riding a backwards bike,
As some searchers will say.

Fenn’s birthday is tomorrow
And he’s the LEAD DOG!
But don’t feel any sorrow,
Go BOTG and turn over a log.

We’ve found a marvelous scared stone ring
After many years of boots on the ground.
Google Earth doesn’t show any of the bling,
You’re free to spread this image all around.

Many marmots call our medicine wheel home,
Before being eaten by raptors and wolverines.
We are a couple that plan before we roam,
Only to gaze upon such marvelous scenes.

Sincerely,
Johnny & Donna

A Colorado Springs man has filed a U.S. Federal lawsuit against Forrest Fenn claiming injury of $1,500,000.00 in the treasure hunt.

From this spot we're looking up into the canyon, right where we found a spring that forms a pool of warm water about 200 feet to the west. The spring is surrounded by trees and vegetation and the mineral deposits that formed a distinct cone shaped water feature. I dipped my toe into the standing water pool and it was warm!

Forrest Fenn has given clues that the treasure was located above 5,000 feet and below 10,200 feet. After many searches in the woods, we found a blaze that was carved into a boulder at an elevation of 10,060 feet. We were feeling the thrill of the chase! From then on, all our efforts went downhill...

Here's a photo of that "BLAZE" we found about 140 feet below Fenn's upper elevation limit.

If you want to understand how excited we were when we found this monument, then you need to study Forrest Fenn's MY WAR FOR ME in his memoir. It was less than 200 feet away when we put-one-foot-in-front-of-the-other while going downhill from that boulder with the blaze.

We felt peace before we got the 7734 out of there.

We've been searching for Indulgence for several years and have many great memories. Here's a link to an example from last summer that was posted in MOST IMPORTANT INFO by Forrest Fenn;

https://dalneitzel.com/2019/07/24/forrest-gets-mail-23/

Our efforts turned more serious when we discovered a hidden map in the book with the treasure poem. Forrest Fenn is a genius!

[attachment=11854:TTOTC_page_33_Map.jpg]

We put an X on that map and searched the area as often as possible.

[attachment=11855:View_Towards_WWWH.jpg]

Eventually, we were able to "marry the clues to a good map". That placed us within 200 feet of the location of our solve on June 26, 2018!

We spent all winter waiting to get back to Warm Spring Creek, Wyoming. Last October, after reviewing the pics we took of the historical site in 2018, the solution became quite apparent. We had been “looking down” too close to the site. The chest was most likely in the trees downhill a short distance outside the fence. Unfortunately, we had to cancel our travel plans this spring a couple of times due to snow blocking the Union Pass road. Just as we were ready to leave, Forrest ended the search. Glad he notified the searchers the treasure had been found in a timely manner.

Here is a map of the course that follows our clue solutions;

CONFIRMATION OPINION #1

The book that Forrest wrote after TTOTC had a “hint”, in our opinion, on the back cover. After we noticed it, we took more interest in his pics taken in interviews over the years. Forrest always seemed to have a much bigger and more pronounced smile as he posed next to his wagon on the Santa Fe Trail passing through his homesite. We think it is because of the influence early wagon trails had on our history. The wagon ruts over Union Pass are still visible only a few hundred feet away from our BLAZE at the top of the Continental Divide. Surprisingly, Johnny discovered a Medicine Wheel at the downstream reach of Warm Spring Creek Canyon. There was a single pine tree at that sacred site and it had a rusty old horseshoe hanging from a low branch! Forrest used horseshoes as colophon markings in his books and at least one of his scrapbooks as well.

CONFIRMATION OPINION #2

Ned Christopher Frost played an important part in the establishment of Wyoming Place No. 26 of the National Register of Historic Places on Union Pass (our BLAZE). While Mr. Frost was the director and curator of the Buffalo Bill Museum, Forrest Fenn acquired the original buffalo skull that had hung above the door to Buffalo Bill's mountain cabin. This documentation proves that Fenn and Frost were well acquainted.

CONFIRMATION OPINION #3

Like untold numbers of other searchers, we have sent many emails to Forrest over the years and he has responded back to us a few times. It was our effort to keep him apprised of BOTG discoveries and our progress towards the correct poem solution. Interestingly, we sent Forrest the following email at 8:04 pm June 5, 2020:

Dear Forrest,

We seek Indulgence much like you do.
All the chasing and chasing in the cold,
Makes our skin turn to shades of blue.
It has been 10 years without a trinket sold.

We’re trying and trying…you get the drift.
Every year we push the limits of snow,
When the sun melts it away our sprits lift.
We have to wait while winds still blow.

This isn’t much of a poem but it will suffice,
BOTG will get us over the rise.
Toe go we passing over that ice,
Going to the bank will be very nice!

Sincerely,

Johnny & Donna

Just 24 hours later, Forrest ended the search! We had waited all winter for the snow drifted Union Pass Road to clear and COVID-19 restrictions by Wyoming be lifted so we could retrieve the chest from our site. The travel reservations had us going BOTG June 7, 2020 but we canceled our trip when learning of the search being called off. We are appreciative that Forrest called off the search as soon as he had confirmed the treasure was "found".

Last year, Forrest asked for our permission to publish one of the emails we had sent to him. Here’s a link to that correspondence with Forrest's response and comments by other searchers just as it was posted in the thread MOST IMPORTANT INFO:

That's pretty cool about the wolverine thing and to see one is rare.
One time we had a dead baby lamb at home and it was a snack for our wolfdog.
One night my daughter and I were outside and we thought we heard the dogs fighting so we walked around the hill and two of my dogs passed us heading back home and I thought what the heck?
Once we saw our wolfdog squaring off with that thing I already knew he was in trouble. It was getting dark and at first sight I thought it was a cougar.
I've never seen an animal move the way that wolverine moved and the way he schooled my wolfdog in fighting skills was rediculous!
I fired off a couple of shots to break them up before my dog got too hurt or his self esteem crushed but it was pretty amazing to see that.
He came away with a few scratches and nothing serious but he wasnt going to give up that lamb that easy.
I'm pretty sure that wolverine smelled the lamb carcass from miles away.

It was kind of funny but as my wolfdog would jump and bluff at the wolverine, it would simply grab his face and clamp on making him scream like a little girl. There wasnt any bluffing in this animal.

Also when I pulled out my pistol to fire off shots into the hill my daughter looked at me and said, "dont shoot it!" Haha
I think Wolverines are protected but he was giving my dog plenty of chances to back down anyway. He was just picking on my poor dog is all haha.
That was a memorable night for sure!

CONFIRMATION OPINION #4

This just in from Forrest Fenn;

Many of the searchers for my treasure had solves that seemed to neatly fit the clues in my poem. Then when the finder found and retrieved the treasure, other searchers wondered how close they had been to the right spot. Because I promised the finder I would not reveal who found it or where, I have remained mostly silent.

However, the finder understands how important some closure is for many searchers, so today he agreed that we should reveal that the treasure was found in Wyoming. Until he found the treasure, the treasure had not moved in the 10 years since I left it there on the ground, and walked away.

Perhaps today’s announcement will bring some closure to those whose solves were in New Mexico, Colorado, or Montana.

To all of those who did not find the treasure, we hope that you got some enjoyment from the chase. f

Go In Peace Forrest.

I hadn't had contact with Mr. Fenn for many months but yesterday he was in my thoughts, so I sent him an e-mail. It isn't unusual to not hear anything back but I just received word that the Santa Fe Police reported he died at his home Monday, September 7th, 2020.

Recently, a video was posted showing some of the area that we've been searching the past few years. It was nice to see someone else enjoying the outdoors as Forrest Fenn tried to encourage through The Thrill Of The Chase.

https://youtu.be/Qy03MmhyHjk

There are only a handful of warm water geysers on Earth...and the video shows one of them we visited many times while treasure hunting in that vicinity.

Warm Spring Creek cuts a deep canyon and here we are looking down onto the natural bridges that are also in the video.

Hi Treasure Searchers,

Please let us introduce ourselves to newcomers of the Colorado Prospector forum and inform everybody of our discovery of the Forrest Fenn Treasure “NOOK” on June 18th, 2021. We are presently unknown to the Fenn Treasure Community, only being recognized as the “Wolverines” from Forrest Gets Mail #23. Forrest sought our permission to publish one of the emails we had sent to him. Attached is a copy of that correspondence just as it was posted in the thread MOST IMPORTANT INFO on Dal Neitzel’s website. That may help you better understand who we are and what we have accomplished.

Like untold numbers of other searchers, we have sent many emails to Forrest over the years and he has responded back to us a few times. It was our effort to keep him apprised of BOTG discoveries and our progress towards the correct poem solution. As the first snowfall of 2019 arrived, we had finally determined exactly where the treasure was hidden. The snow continued on and on, essentially preventing the recovery of the chest. We waited all winter for the snow drifted roads leading to our search area to clear and COVID-19 restrictions imposed by Wyoming officials to be lifted so we could retrieve the chest from our search site. Interestingly, we sent Forrest an email at 8:04 pm June 5, 2020 advising that the travel quarantines were being relaxed somewhat and allowed us to plan going BOTG June 7, 2020. Just a day later, on June 6th, we canceled our trip after learning the search was being called off by Forrest with a claim the chest had been found.

We recently traveled to our solution location and found the “NOOK” along with other evidence supporting our opinion that the treasure was recovered from the site about a year ago. After plotting the GPS coordinates against a legal survey map, we realized that the treasure was hidden within the boundaries of a National Historic Landmark. It is our opinion that the treasure chest belongs to the US Government! Forrest wanted the treasure to be displayed in the Smithsonian Institution and we believe our evidence will support that endeavor.

If you are further interested in this matter, please follow our thread in the CP Club Member’s Protected forum in Forrest Fenn Treasure Location, “NOOK” and Supporting Evidence.

Sincerely,

Johnny and Donna Tonko

Donna and I (Team Wolverine of Forrest Gets Mail #23) first found the location that matched the drawing on Page 99 of THE THRILL OF THE CHASE back in 2018.

Here's a short video of the area;

THE THRILL OF TWO WHEELS

We were fortunate to have found two "Medicine Wheels" in our searching at Warm Spring Creek Wyoming. One at the bottom of Union Pass.

The other was a modern version of the Medicine Wheel at the summit of Union Pass that is a Registered Historical Site. There was much discussion by the Fenn Community about him hiring an attorney to see if it was legal to hide the chest on various types of government lands. Outside of the site is USFS Lands where it would be legal to place the treasure chest.

The plaque is a BLAZE with a map and description of the wheel...

just like the one Forrest Fenn had taken leaning on his wheels at his Santa Fe Trail home site. It was placed on the back cover of his book Too Far To Walk.

Even his signature has a "Medicine Wheel" in it!
