A friend found this rock in North Georgia and is trying to ID it, anyone got a clue to what it is?

Hi Skip,

Interesting looking find, have you done any hardness tests on it to see what hardness range it would be in? The clevage looks similar to jade or nephrite in the pics but that can be misleading in photos. Your friend could also do a search on Mindat to see what is recorded for minerals in northern Ga. Good luck with the ID on this and let us know what you come up with.

That's what I was thinking Dan. Looks an awful lot like the nephrite over btween Happy Camp and Cave Jct., and Georgia does have the geology for it, so......
